Yup, as the primary option for much of his time with the Clippers, he was below average.

As the number 4-5-6 option on the Rockets, I think it is fair to say that is numbers would take a pretty significant leap efficiency wise. He is big and skilled, and he can absolutely finish with the best of them.

it is interesting that you use the per 36 to prove gortats stats .. but ignore that even last year kamans per 36 min stats were 17.1/9.7 those look alot similar to gortat who is playing on a better team with a better point guard. Even this year he is 14.5/10.8 I would take those number plus the expiring contract plus martin and or lowry

    If this trade happens

    Kaman+Patterson+Martin+Picks for Dwight+Hedo

    Then

    Lowry+Scola+Bud for Dwill

lets just look at 09-10 season clippers starting lineup was barron davis, eric gordon, al thortan, zach randolph and chris kaman with ricky davis the noted ball distributor (sarcasm) coming off the bench. How was he at all the primary option on that team, yet that was his best statistical year ..

Yup, when he's moved down the pecking order and focuses on what he's supposed to be good at which is being a solid defender, good rebounder and capable scorer when asked he becomes that much more valuable.

You surround Kaman with other good players and provide him with a fresh start and a chance where he can actually make a difference then you have to be hopeful he can shine. Especially when he's shown he's more than capable in the past at a ripe age of 29 he's got plenty of game left.

Then you take into consideration that we can get him for useless scraps/garbage and it becomes a no-brainer. I don't understand why that's so hard to comprehend for a lot of people in this thread. Esepcially for guys that have been around for quite some time.

As long as we don't give up anythingg useful. I actually think Hill is way better then Kaman at this point. Just don't give them Patterson and the 1st pick and we are good. Don't know why Morey would do this trade. Kaman is injury prone. He'll prob. get injured getting off the plane to get here if he's traded.

Kaman and Dalembert are similar in that they are both legitimate starting centers, but very average. They won't carry you anywhere, but they will be serviceable. It would be nice to have two of those.

The people who are more worried about giving up Hill than Patterson are hilarious. Patterson consistently showed starter potential last year down the stretch while Hill has a masterful double double every 4th game he gets 25+ minutes, with a grand total of zero minutes played on defense.

Patterson is the one who would hurt, people.

Yes, he is turnover prone. I think that part of his game can be coached up.

However, I really think the main motive behind acquiring Kaman may be more than him playing 25 minutes for us. I think his larger expiring may make it easier for us to swing a big trade come March 25th.

    Exactly.

Pat dropped 3 consecutive double-doubles (w/ .58 FG% and 2 bks/gm) in the middle of a 5-gm winning streak at the end of last season. He plays w/ a high motor and has a very polished mid-range game for a 22-yr-old.

J-Chill's not fit to shine his shoes.
