* Demps attempt to get others to raise thier offer will follow this statement. Thought I'd blow the source.. Seriously...09ers w/o Bud or Lee or picks...even 2nd rounders (unless it's that 55+ from the Kings that well never see)
One of those scrubs cost us Battier, hardly did we get them for nothing. Gilbert Arenas and Jerry Stackhouse are former all-stars as well, should we start trading for them as well? http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/k/kamanch01/gamelog/2012/ ^^^ Kaman's numbers this year. For months I've read endless posts about hill/thabeet/ect being good enough to trade for Howard or Gasol. Now we hear we might get Kaman, and that's something we're excited about? Maybe 3 years ago.
Yep, we can trade Kaman for Deron or Howard straight up. We can still combine more players, but the rest of the deal would technically be separate.
I think you are really underrating Chris Kaman. While I don't think the market for him will require us to give up much, we could legitimately be getting one of our best players for next to nothing, and maybe he would re-sign with us for cheap next year... A center that in 09-10 played 76 games and averaged 19-9 in 34 minutes a game? I would kill to see a C like that down there with Luis Scola and Samuel Dalembert...
Lolz. those same assets were being touted as getting us a Howard or Gasol type player, not we're getting 9 points, 6 rebounds per game Kaman. I see that being a stomach punch, yet I'm stupid? You kids make me laugh.
You act like we gave up something significant when we gave up Shane Battier. Chris Kaman has been more than solid this year, If you have been paying attention. He had been splitting time with Emeka Okafor, and he was as good as he has ever been. His scoring and rebounding rates are great... Plus, he could be an extremely valuable expiring contract for Daryl to work with, especially If he is productive. Shane Battier for Chris Kaman= HUGE win...
He's put up his lowest PER since 06-07. The lowest shooting percentage of his career, by far. His rebounding and blocks per 36 were pretty solid. They're solid... BUT, consider Dalembert is giving you 12.8 boards and 3.2 blocks per 36, and is much more efficient offensively. And no, Kaman is not a PF. Point being, he's kind of not needed all that much anymore.
Actually we traded the rights to Rudy Gay for Battier so the equation is Rudy Gay for Chris Kaman = we are dumb
He gives us way more than Hill, Thabeet and Twill/Flynn. He's a skilled big body. You can never have enough of those. The biggest addition is he will split Dalembert's minutes so they both stay fresh down the stretch run/ playoffs (hopefully). I honestly feel Dalembert is being a bit overworked. He's also a great insurance policy in case Dalembert does go down. Neither Kaman nor Dalembert are PF's but the possibility of going big and being able to play two 7 footers is really intriguing as well.
That's not fair. he's using 36 minutes as a means of normalization when comparing stats. perhaps players who play in a certain mpg range shoudl be normalized at a different number, but that doesn't seem to be standard yet. He's not saying he will get you 15, 11 and 2 a night. He's saying he will get you decent production on a per minute basis, for the minutes he does play. That said, he ignores the fact that the offensive production is done in an EXTREMELY inefficient manner. And that while the per minute rebound and block numbers are solid, they are worse than our cheaper, incumbent starter, who plays the same position as Kaman, who apparently wants to be a starter... This is a contract and half a season depth move, if it were to happen.
Obviously Kaman won't play 36, that's why we have Dalembert. Chris Kaman and Samuel dalembert playing 24 minutes a piece would make this team infinitely better... If they ever played together Kaman wouldn't play PF, (Dalembert would)... Dalembert usually guards the opposing teams best post player anyway, be it Blake/Lamarcus/Dirk... I think Dally is quick enough for that to not be an issue...
His career .486 says otherwise. It is bizarre to me that you guy are pointing out his shooting numbers this year, where he has played limited minutes in limited games on a team that never wanted him in the first place. He will be up close to 50, as he always is, in a matter of time. He has an excellent post game...
no body here is really arguing that he's a "great" player. the only thing we should be concerned with is: Is Kaman better than Hill? That is a resounding YES!!! All the other pieces, assuming Thabeet/Flynn/possible 2nd rounder is of inconsequential significance to this argument because Hill is the only one that is getting minutes. I am so tired of Hill giving up and-1's and bobbling the basketball on offense.
This. People forget so easily he was considered a top 5 center easily just a few years ago. He was exactly like what Marc Gasol is today not very long ago.
