Kaman can be traded now, alone, no other players from NO. After Feb 12 he can be moved with other players.

This probably would go down after February 12th, then, 'cause we'd have to take on a couple of we-don't-want-'em's from NO.

And if NO thinks they want Patterson, well, Kaman better be healthy and ready to re-sign here. Or Jordan Hill better be ready to re-sign here.

I'd so much prefer to flush Scola somewhere (watching the other teams' layup drills just makes my a-hole itch) and have PPat and DMo (thinking of the future) holding down the 4; but that's another day, another trade.

Off course I prefer not giving anything extra
but why will NO do that trade (14 millions expirings for anther 14 millions expirings and NO are giving the best player)

Another posibility is that we gives only 11 millions in expiring (keeping williams) so NO safe a3 millions, but that put us over the cap limit

If they wanted Morris practicing with the rest of the guys, he'd already be there. No trade necessary. ;)

Our offer doesn't have to be fair, it just has to be better than other team's offers - and I think it is from NOLA's view.

I hope we get Kaman. He has good post up moves. People are underrate Kaman because he is white and has bad hair.

I don't think either Pat or Morris have shown the ability to lock down the 4-spot. If anything, Pat looks like he's taken a step back. We can't possibly know what we have in Morris at this point. We truly do need scola until we either trade for someone better, or upgrade with one of the elite PF draft prospects (Sullinger, Robinson, Perry Jones, Henson).

Possibly to do what we did, see if they can squeeze any talent out of these guys.

Look at at this way, it's a no lose situation for New Orleans. At best, Kaman might have gotten them a worthless 2nd round pick from a cotender. Most likely, he would have sulked on the bench then left when his contract expires.

With Thabeet, Hill, Williams, and Flynn, they have younger players- but also expirings. They won't be making the playoffs, so they'll be putting in youngsters with the hope they pan out. If they don't, it doesn't matter. Their contracts will be expired, and New Orleans will have simply traded one expiring for four.

While we do NOT KNOW what DM the GM will trade for what King Commish will accept, I do have one question:

Why Caveman and at this time? (OK, two questions)

Don't like Kaman - But He's an improvement over Hill and if we can get him by adding Thabeet to the mix - all the better

    Clutch,

I see no one answered your question.

We can't trade him for 2 months if we aggregate his salary with others to acquire a more expensive player. However, we can trade him by himself, or with another player if we don't aggregate for a more expensive player.

Also, the restriction only applies to teams over the cap.

It seems as if Morey feels differently - why pursue Kaman at all if he doesn't see a value in him?

Our 5 rotation as it stands is Dalembert - Hill (- Thabeet)

I'll blast Kaman as fast as anyone....but Hill is giving us 5-5 in 15mpg, and has been thoroughly overwhelmed nearly every time he has to play a low post glass eater. In wins, he gives us 6 boards and a block in just under 16 mins. In losses, that dips to 4 boards and 0.5 blocks in just over 16 mins. I haven't seen that to be a coincidence - our record is dismal when facing a top rebounding big. The Bucks loss is the only loss in which we weren't playing one.

Dalembert alone isn't enough. Hill is negated when matching up to a rebounding big. Thabeet is a bad joke.

Kaman's not much to look at, and you don't want to draw up plays for him....but he is a legitimate 7 footer with a good rebounding and block rate.

Lee's going to waste on our bench, and I think it's almost certain that he walks away this summer. Hornets want something of value in return, and Hill is hardly enough. The 2009 bust brigade is worthless on the market. A pick is too high a cost, so I'll bet it's Bud and Courtney.

Simply 4 for 1 creates a negative situation for New Orleans as they have to take up 4 roster spots instead of 1 (which means trading or releasing a few other players). If all else is equal, I am sure they would rather have 1 roster spot eating up an expiring contract than having to commit 4 for the same purpose. There needs to be some incentive.

Was with you until the bolded part, of which I disagree with almost everything you wrote. Lee is utilized properly imo and I think he certainly stays unless some team massively overpays. Hornets may want something of value, but it certainly wont be from us. Hill has some value atleast. No way they move Lee. I guess Budinger may be involved, but I highly doubt it.

NBA sources told FOX-26 Rockets have had talks with Hornets about trading for C Chris Kaman. Nothing close. Chances of it happening r low.

In your opinion, but I doubt in his. He played more minutes and had a larger role in Orlando and New Jersey before landing here. He wants a starting role and wants to be paid like it. That's been the giant wedge in extension talks and why his camp is worlds apart from our FO.

You and I may agree that he's best used as a valuable reserve behind Martin, but he would instantly start in New Orleans.

Kaman is one of those guys that's worth a gamble if AND ONLY IF the price is cheap enough. It's just Daryl shopping at the discount bin. If the asking price is too high, he walks away.

As for Lee, he's playing very significant minutes off the bench, so he has value to the team right now on the court. It's not like he's out of the rotation. Lee is also a restricted FA in the coming off-season and that restriction has some value (if another team wants him, we can threaten to match and work out some S&T for some consideration). There is no reason to ship him our for another bench player.
