What do all these Xavier Henry supporters know/see that I don't? Maybe he should be getting more PT and could play better, but he's nto looked like much of an NBA player to date.
I was on the Caveman bandwagon for a long time. Now, not so much. However, Cavie has played on some ineptly operated pieces of hardwood. As I have repeatedly said, any/all of the '09ers + Bud and I'm good. Would love to open a roster spot or two, frankly.
David Stern is involved? NO TY I wish the rest of the league would just blackball the Hornets until they get real management again.
I know Scola is not a good defender, but trading Scola for Kaman will not improve our team unless you play him (Kaman) as a power foward and he improves his post up moves. Scola is the only Rockets player that demands a double team when on the block from our opponents. He is also our only true post up player, though Dalembert does try occasionally. If we trade Scola we atleast should get someone who also commands double teams and can post up. Otherwise we become a jump shooting team only with very little inside game unless as I said before you play Kaman as a power forward.
I can pretty much guarantee you that Scola will not be used in this deal. They still have the amnesty in thier back pocket to use if needed.
The adjusted +/- stats I've seen of him over the years are not very good. In particular, despite his reputation as a skilled offensive player, his offensive ratings have been negative. For example: Spoiler From that, he actually was more helpful on the defensive side (good size, rebounding, shot-blocking).
Doesn't he want meanIngful minutes? He said he wants 30 to 35. Would that work with bear? Who would start? Wasn't he an all star a few years ago? In Morey I trust. Sigh
But seriously, who cares what he wants? He's making $14 mil per year, and he's a 1-yr rental. He'll play the best he can in the minutes given to him. It's too his advantage as a UFA this summer.
The only time i could see K-Mac experimenting with Kaveman at PF is whenever Scola is in foul trouble or having an off night. Acquiring Kaman would mean a timeshare with Sammy. Then both centers would be fresh enough and more capable to provide us with quality minutes. Especially with this type of a hectic shortened season. Dalembert starts and does his thing and when he gets into early foul trouble, rather than Hill checking in or Scola playing the 5, we would a Chris Kaman manning that position. Or vice versa (kaman starts). Just the thought of having 2 legit quality bigs manning the center position makes me ...
Of course it is. I'm guessing that if a deal is effected it will include little from the asset side - - but that a deal for Luis would be expedited...for?
1. Move Hill to the 4. Start P Pat alongside Dalembert. Kaman/Hill & Dalembert/P Pat seem to be good offensive pairs. 2. Scola commands double teams? What?! A guard reaching in as he trails a cutter isn't a double team, Scola doesn't force someone to completely leave their man the second he touches the ball. You're embellishing at the least when you say he "demands a double team". That's a bit much... only about 10 players in the league get that kind of statement and Scola isn't one of them. Kevin Love handled him by himself most of the time, weak-side help isn't a double team 3. Salary Cap. This isn't fantasy basketball.... it's a business. Scola has the worst contract on our team and that's why Stern nixed the trade and got a better deal from LA. Demps loves Scola so maybe Stern will listen since he isn't giving up an all star and we are giving him half his value in expirings back + maybe a cheap 2nd round draft pick. 4. Scola isn't going to get you a low post player who demands double teams.... please name one. I think K-Mart can get us Jefferson in a package but even he doesn't "demand double teams" he is just a beast and has great nights. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7h4hc6d If we have to wait until Feb 12.... Scola/Flynn/Thabeet for Kaman/Vasquez or some other way to put an extra expiring in their hands.
