Assuming Jordan Hill nets us a pick around 20. I'm all for getting Kaman and having him help us solidify a strong run this year.

Good, Thabeet's garbage, and Hill is just a bad fit. He's not meant to play the 5, but at the same time isn't talented or driven enough to warrant stealing minutes from Patterson, Scola, and eventually D-Mo.

If we can just dump our 09ers, this deal is a win, especially when Kaman's contract expires.

Don't give up Patterson for the Caveman. Stern has the upper hand here.

Yeah, my bad. You did say 'not that either team would do it.' ;)

It only improves our cap space to the extent it eliminates contracts that otherwise would be on the books next year. Meaning PPat, if he's included.

Possibly Jordan Hill, to the extent the team wanted to resign him, but if he was included in the trade they are effectively saying they don't value him enough to want to resign him.

I think your earlier analysis makes the most sense. Pare down number of filler players, strengthen playoff hopes this year.

Call me crazy but we should keep Hill and try to send Scola in his place:

Scola / Thabeet / 2nd rounder for Kaman...... get it done.

Then move Jordan Hill to his natural position where he is a very poor man's Amare but I bet he is much more physical and efficient on the boards after his year long stint at the 5, than he ever was as a PF before.

We move our worst contract and aging player (Scola I still love you) at a position that we can draft serviceable talent.

    Dalembert/Kaman
    P Pat/Hill
    Budinger/Parsons
    Martin/Lee
    Lowry/Dragic

10 man rotation with Morris having room to crack it. Get it done.

Salary cap space if we don't sign Dragic or Lee and exercise the option on Dalembert is upwards of $25mil before draft picks with two huge/valuable expiring contracts in Dalembert & K-Mart worth $20 mil. I don't know what team we couldn't make a deal with for a superstar they don't want to pay.

Very odd move baskeball wise if it happens. Both Bert and Kaman are true centers so we can't really play them together. With Bert playing well, I was actually ok with giving Hill 15 mins a game and see him develop, I don't think he's a bad bench player.

i guess we can play both Bert and Kaman 24 mins a game, but damn, that is a looot of money for the center position (even if it is just for this year). I guess if it gives us flexibility at trade deadline or EOY then its fine, but don't see how much it could help us on the court...

Honestly I think the hornets would be getting a good deal if they took williams, hill, and thabeet.

All of which they can test out to see if they can keep...1 or more could work out for them... they need to take a gamble on young talent. T will would be their best wing player will gordon is out and would compliment him greatly.

Jarret Jack, Gordon, T will, (ariza) , Landry and Okafor

Thats a pretty good 2 way team.

Gives gordon ability to slack of d and become an eilite SG.

I don't think he can be traded until Feb 12 if he is to be combined with other players. They most likely want to include other salaries so they won't have to cut anyone and be on the hook for those salaries.

actually thats not true. Kaman could be used at the 4 easily because of his offense style. I wouldnt do it for long periods of time, but depending on match up. It could be very effective. Kinda like a Gasol/Bynum lite

If we get rid of Hill, Thabeet, and maybe TWill. Then that would open up a spot for Marcus Morris to come back to the line up this year.

Maybe it gives us some flexibility at the deadline. I'm no Bima, but I just don't see how it gives us a lot of flexibility in the offseason. It'd be expirings for expirings.

I'm not sure Kaman makes us that much better. If we get Kaman, I think the logical thing is to turn around and trade Dalembert.

I wish we could deal Scola, but that isn't happening in a deal for Kaman.

If you google "Chris Kaman 82games [200x]" for whatever year you want, you will get a link to his 82games.com profile. Which will allow you to see his stats based on what position on the floor he's playing. Which will show you, for pretty much any year, he almost never plays anything but center, even for short periods of time.

Not that it's not possible, but he's certainly never played another position before.

I would like to see us give them Scola, Hasheem, and Hill for Caveman and X. Henry.

Then ship Martin and Bud to Chicago for Noah.

Keep Noah for the future and let Caveman and Dally walk next year. Have plenty of money for a big free agent and still have all of our young potential players in tact.

    Line up

    Lowry / Dragic
    Lee / Henry
    Parsons / Morris
    Noah / Patterson
    Dally / Kaman

Starting 5 is a bit defensive heavy but it could work.

    What do you guys think?

It's Moneyball baby.... Scola prevents us from offering two near max contracts and any agent worth his salt would explain that to his client before the first near max FA signed with us. We aren't the Lakers who can just offer to sign anyone and the league believes that they will.
