Follow up point: If we made the deal today, can he be moved at the deadline for Dwill/Howard. If not, does it make sense to trade now, or wait till the deadline where Kaman ultimately ends up with a third team.
why the hypothetical? I could turn that around and ask, "How pissed would you be if we trade the NY pick and Amare or Melo gets injured the next day." Right now, the pick is too valuable to trade for Kaman, and might become very valuable. besides, NY is sucking it right now against the weakest schedule in the league. Their Strength of Schedule is something like a 40.2% winning pct.
Back when the news about the Gasol deal was still flying everywhere, wasn't there a comment from the NOH front office about how any time Demps passed info along to the NBA offices, something would always get leaked? Hope this is one of those cases, because Thabeet + Hill for one useful player AND a bigger net/single expiring contract is a good deal.
I don't really get why we would do this considering Kaman wants out because he doesn't want to sit on the bench, and Dalembert has been too good for us to do anything with Kaman but sit him on the bench. Even if so, they can have their pick of the 09ers and 2nd round picks, just leave Pat and 1st rounders out of it and I'm on board.

Interesting, Im a bit torn on the value of a 15th through 20th pick, especially in this draft where 10 to 30 looks pretty weak, but I get your point. Either way, theres going to be many more pieces moving if the Knicks pick has to be involved so its going to be interesting. I just know that Stern will insist on a 1st round pick coming their way for Kaman. Now what would you think if Morey gives away both of the Rockets 2nd round picks?
if I have to give up hill, I want the sun in return! I like the trade. He reminds me of the character with the funky rash in there is something about marry.
Well ultimately I agree with you. Morey would be gone if that were part of the deal. As I said it wasn't directed towards you just replied to your post for others to comprehend. Just glad someone does on here....
then you walk away. this team isn't a chris kaman away from being a contender. value that relative to the unknown of what you'll end up with in the NYK pick.
Good point. Especially considering what Morey usually does with 2nd rounders. If we included Williams, I think we could get that pick.
Yep. Morey knows this and do you really think he will mind saying, "**** off" to Stern? I don't think so. Morey must have some reassurances from NOLA's patsy GM.
Seconded. If the Rockets give up a first round pick, Patrick Patterson or Marcus Morris, I'll be very disappointed... even deeper in cluelessness as to what this team is doing. Anyone know if we get Kaman what restrictions we would have on dealing him by March 15th? Can we only deal him by himself, or can he packaged with others in a trade?
I would think its a huge mistake. Kaman isn't going to catapult this team into greatness this season, so why bother? If we're winning with guys who we're keeping beyond this season, that's one thing. Winning a few more games with a mid-season rental, on the other hand, is kind of pointless as far as I can tell.
Very true. I think Kaman represents a much greater potential of getting to the playoffs so we shall see how desperate they really are to make the playoffs and where their priorities really are. Going to be an interesting couple of weeks. -Anyone know if the Hornets are still benching Kaman for now? I dont see a deal happening much closer to the deadline. Stern will maximize value if he waits for better offers.
