Bringing back the good times of 70's tv <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/y5_oM8rU1jk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> RIP Mr. Cornelius....I wish you love, peace and soul!
As a kid, Soul Train meant that cartoons were over and it was time to go outside and play, so I really don't have fond memories of that show. For me, it represented the end of fun and the beginning of chores and boring afternoons.
I’ll never forget growing up in the early seventies and being one of the very few white kids in my neighborhood on the mean streets of Washington DC. Knowing that week’s songs from Soul Train was a means of survival.
me too. also, another show that the music video killed. not a joke, cornelius is one of those guys i thought was already dead. rip
Being an immigrant family, my father and I always spent time watching Soul Train whenever we could on weekends. Seriously, I have no idea why we did. I have no idea what attracted my dad to the show since he's so "old-school immigrant", but I loved it because of the dancing and always hoped to see somebody popping and locking on the show. My life was never the same after watching ReRun and Danny "Disco Dynamite" Domino battle on What's Happening, so I had to see more of that kind of dancing. lol. I'll always have fond memories of Mr. Cornelius and that voice - he never got rap music, but that's ok. He introduced me and the rest of America to some of the greatest R&B, funk, and soul music ever created. A true legend in the industry.
