I have no powers. I did tell you on this board to move Aaron Brooks, Shane Battier, and Luis Scola at the height of their value because we were not contenders. You might even remember these times back then as I am so memorable in my conversations. RV6 remembers. I said to move these guys at top value. The time passed and guess what? You got less for all players. I had no powers. Just good intuition.

Make no mistake. If Morey does not get anything this trade deadline done? I will ask and then prove this again if you have to make another excuse up for him. It will have proven my point again. I am not talking about another minor low first round pick or role player either. He needs to pull some good youth, star, or upper half draft pick this time with his "Good moves".

So how do you presume Dmorey gets the star the team needs? He almost got the star in Pau, but that got cancelled. He almost got Deron WIlliams but Nets gave up Favors. He has been close what else is he going to do suck the other teams GM's dick? Only mistake Morey has made was the Twill trade.

I will just say come deadline I dont want to hear another excuse for the 10th time on this subject about why our GM has too hard of a job pulling some good youth, higher draft picks, or a semi star/star away from another team. Excuses get old after a while and start to become part of his resume as failures at some point.

Everyone knows that Morey was shopping pretty much everyone on the roster 2 years back. That was widely reported. And, according to your own arguments, the Rockets are such pushovers that they would have accepted virtually anything in return for them, yet that didn't happen.

What that should tell you is that the Rockets covet their good players, and though they are aggressive in looking for deals to improve their team they will not just give up good players for any deal that's in front of them. It has to be something they're convinced is worth it. Criticize their decision-making if you like, but that's the opposite of being a pushover.

Its being hesitant to make the big deals. It ties directly with their habit of doing smaller deals and getting practically nothing back but small parts. It all ties together. The tight a55es when it comes to bigger deals and the smaller bad deals for their players after they lost value. Same result.

To be fair, Morey's shopping everyone, every year. He might have gotten fair offers for Brooks, when Brooks' value was higher, but decided against moving him. He did move him in a fair deal later, but Brooks value had then declined.

It doesn't make Morey a pushover, but it also doesn't invalidate the argument that Morey could potentially have gotten more for Brooks if he traded him earlier.

All of which is easier to say in hindsight. But this is Morey's job. This doesn't seem like a huge trend to me. I agree with your conclusion - he's generally got the better end of his deals. But he has waited to long in some cases... not all, not even a majority, but some.

This is not the reason why. He clearly is not averse to trying to make a splash. If he failed to move players at their peaks, it was because he miscalculated when their peaks would be.

Looking over the Timberwolves, Kevin Love's draft rights was acquired by trading OJ Mayo's rights so Minnie's terrible sucktitude was the reason for getting Love. But as for Rubio, that's looking like a great trade giving up Mike Miller and Randy Foye only.

Martin and Scola for Pau Gasol is a big deal, whether you think its a good one or not. That's two major pieces of last year's team he was very willing to give up. Again, whether you think its a good deal is a separate matter. But clearly he's willing to make a big deal if he believes it will help the team.

He didnt get it done. I dont count what he wants to get done like other posters do. I only count what he actually gets done.

That's just a failure of logic on your part. You were making a claim about what he's willing to do (i.e. "its being hesitant to make the big deals"). It's irrelevant that the deal itself got cancelled ultimately.

He still cant do it. Which ties into the conversation he is hesitant and when he does try to get the deals done he still cant anyways.

    Bosh
    Carmelo
    Nene
    Gasol
    Gasols brother
    Amare

Pretty long list of failures within just two years.

Which ties into him being a pushover and using him for leverage all the time to get more for other teams. Morey wants the high drfat pick also in those years? GM calls up other GMs and tells them what Morey offered and they get more from there because morey wont match. Then when he goes for it? Still cant make it happen. All bad GM traits to have.

Fine. So this shows that for major deals, Morey excepts more in return than what other teams are willing to give him and hence he's not able to close them. And history shows that in smaller deals, Morey generally gets more than he gives up.

Your initial point that other GMs know they can get players from the Rockets for virtually nothing makes even less sense now.

It makes less sense when involving Superstars on my list? The smaller deals he is only average. per my chart showing his moves and the Rockets direction over three years as opposed to before he arrived. Lets look at my graphs.

The red indicates Rockets good years and trend progression. The Blu line represents the take over by Morey as he served under the last GM and then goes right into tenure and finally the progress in the flat line of blues as his direction has taken form and the influence of the last GM as shown in red bars has faded from the scene.

Yes. If the Rockets are hesitant to trade their good players for stars, then it makes less sense to argue that they are willing to up their players for nothing or trash. You really don't see how those are contradictory positions?

I don't understand the graphs, sorry.

Not really. The big stars they wont give up more players to get them which makes him hesitant which supports my theory. Then when it comes to small players he is willing to go micro transactions and get very little for them at that point which still kind of says conservative on both ultimately not good deals. At best average. Which actually supports the chart above now that I think about it.

I think Ron Artest was a pretty big deal-- lets remember this was a guy getting almost 20 ppg when he was traded and was key in getting the team to the 2nd round in McGrady's absence. I also think that the Kevin Martin 3-team trade was a pretty big deal. The Gasol vetoed trade was also a pretty big deal.

Every front office likely discuss hundreds of ideas and proposals with each other and/or free agents for every one that actually materializes. It's just not that often that both (or all) parties minds meet.

I don't think the Rockets front office has closed less deals, both in number and in magnitude, than that of other front offices. They just didn't pull off the almost-impossible-- i.e. getting the team in contention despite losing two max players to injuries.
