Tacos are always on a soft tortilla, and can be closed or opened up to add more salsa, salt, lime, etc. Burritos are closed up tacos, full of wholesome goodness. Hard-shelled tacos are the devil, Bobby! The food always falls out on hard-shelled ones, like SuperBeeKay said. You will NOT see hard-shelled Tacos in my Me-hee-coe.
when I read hard tacos, I thought about fried tacos (tacos dorados) not those hard-shelled tacos. so if the poll talks about hard-shelled vs soft tacos, definitely soft, which they are just called tacos here in mexico. hard-shelled tacos are fake tacos, like swoly said you wont find any hard-shell tacos here. If you order for hard tacos, they could bring you tacos dorados or flautas. (fried tacos).
If it's soft, I now prefer corn Tortilla. All my Mexican ladies always eat Corn Tortilla, so I have to roll with that. But between Hard Shell tacos and soft, what I end up doing is getting frustrated with eating the first hard shell taco, so the rest that I make, I put them in a bowl, and I end up crushing them with a spoon and make a taco salad.

Didn't even know those were pics of Taco Bell "street tacos" think they came and went quickly. I was just looking for a pic of usual taqueria tacos.
Yup, I agree with David and Swoly. Hard shell tacos are not considered real tacos in Mexico. As to whether I enjoy them or not , sure I suppose. If you know what I mean, I prefer Tacos de pastor con salsa de chile de arbol (not some FIRE bs sauce) Tacos de tripitas y Tacos de lengua
check out that back tire! They are going nowhere quick. We have some awesome taco trucks in houston, just saying just saying
