FYI UH students will go to the polls Tuesday and Wednesday to vote on a proposed increase to the student services fee by $50 per semester for the next 25 years to help pay for a new football stadium and renovated Hofheinz Pavilion.

I'm curious how UH students on this board will vote.

When I was a student, I probably would've voted for it. Today, I probably wouldn't.

    A couple of other notes:

The amount and time period are subject to reduction based on other fundraising.

The stadium will open September 2014 with the Coogs playing 2013 at Reliant. Students will have free tickets for the next 25 years. UH will also provide free transportation to Reliant. Any student who pays in but graduates/leaves before Fall 2014 will receive $90 off season tickets for the number of years he/she paid in.

If I was still a student I'd do it...extra hundred dollars compared to the thousands you're already paying is a small price to pay to taking the next step toward Tier One and having a top football program.

Our athletic fees are actually low compared to other schools, I'll be voting yes, we need this. I'm a senior so it wont effect me much.

As a parent who would be paying $100 dollars a year for this if one of my kids decided to go to UH, sure.

I don't go to UH, but why doesn't the city just pay for it?

This may sound goofy, but I'm pretty sure U of H has almost no official relationship with the city or county whatsoever. The Campus Police Department might be an exception, but I know UT's even at the Med Center are their own state force.

I didn't vote for the Rec Center, so I probably wouldn't have voted for this. But I also didn't pay for any graduation ceremony stuff and didn't go: there or in high school.

Voting yes. We do need a new football stadium, especially with the move to the Big East.

Yeah UH doesn't get much dough from the gov't.

I'd vote yes if I was still a student there. Especially if this means UH athletics will regularly make the tournaments and bowls.

My wife is currently going to UH. Good gosh I am shocked at her tuition. Almost $1K per class.

A&M would have been cheaper, and closer. Of course, not sure if she would have gotten into their biz school.

I'd probably vote yes since this is my last semester but if it wasn't, I wouldn't because geez we're already getting ridiculous fees.

This would be a huge statement either way. It's a great time after the season they had and with the excitement of going to the Big East.
