What Rose and Durant (and Westbrook) did is way different than what LeBron did. James signed a 4-year extension with an opt out after 3 years, with the understanding that unless he sustained a career debilitating injury, that last year was never going to be exercised, since with 7 years of NBA experience, LeBron would be entitled to a larger maximum contract, and could sign elsewhere as a free agent. Kevin Love just did the same thing. When you do that, you're creating a huge signal to everyone in the media, the fans, and most importantly, other free agents that you're looking for the first train out of dodge.

Compare that to Rose and Durant, who just signed 5 year deals with NO opt outs. These guys could have easily demanded that ETO, but they figured that as a show of commitment to the franchise, they'd sign the max deal. Even Yao wasn't that loyal to the Rockets.

Griffin didn't improve the Clippers like Irving has improved the Cavs. He's not a franchise changer.

yea this guy doesn't commit to his team, shows he has no faithn him, adn then wnats chemistry to stay the same. Guys can be professional and play hard, but when your star says that openly to the public, that hurts moral just natural human nature.

Guys like him lebron Chris Paul don't understand the real people they hurt, inc. There are fans who literally(stupidly) spend a heavy income percentage on season tickets, buy all their gear, like many of us rockets, it is almost like a family like bond to route for your team. It becomes an escape from daily life so on. I mean New Orleans would've voted for chris Paul as mayor and let him getaway with murder, yet they seem to not give a dman abotu tha tsort of commiitment thatultimely allows them to demand the revenue they do. ITs one thing when management always sucks, but with lebron, it was well noted that not only did he have full control over trades and management decisions, but also just wasn't allowed to be critisized by the coach, etc. Makes it a bit worse than paul, anthony, and dwight, but still its sad to see, I feel bad for the loyal die hard fans.

And for Rose and Durant, Durant especially who plays in a very small market to sign in wtih 5 years when he could've gotten more exposure elsewhere in a fancier city, I love it. Kevin Love was willing too, but heis great butnot a guaranteed max level no 1 option on a championship team, that is why he was willing to take the 5 year guaranteed max. Now it seems he is open to the media to 'see what the wolves do' sort of taking the same approach, but not one ever has marketed it like Lebron for 2 years to his team.
Then Anthony and Dwight openly doing it, throwing their teammates under the bus. Then Paul who kind of kept his motuh shut even though it was public which was smarter than the other 3 morons. Ironically 3/4 trade demand guys are all arpat of the same marketing group(lebron's)

I like how everyone keeps throwing out how today's superstars keep leaving their team like it's a new age where no one is loyal. Even Hakeem Olajuwon demanded a trade at one point. And Kareem Abdul-Jabar wasn't always a Laker. LeBron tried to make Cleveland work and what talent did they bring him? An old Shaq? Antwan Jamison? Albeit the way he left was disgraceful and immature.

Dwight has been with Orlando for years and who does he have to play with? He's tried to play there but it's not working out. There comes to a point where loyalty isn't enough.

Imagine if the magic can pull off something like the nuggets did.

Well, we got a disgruntled superstar from Orlando too. Look how that worked out.

    Forget chemistry etc....

His teammates should play hard every night because they're professionals. They get payed millions of dollars to play to the best of they're abilities, period. If anything they should have some pride in themselves and try to show Dwight that he's dumb for wanting to leave town.

Orlando would have to be insane to take Stat + Chandler for DH. Stat's contract would cripple their franchise. Gasol/Bynum, maybe, seems iffy though give Bynum's recurring injuries.

If Howard would sign an extension with us, we could present an attractive package at the deadline. Knicks pick (possibly top 10 lottery), Morris, Patterson, Lee, rights to D-Mo, Budinger, Parsons, expiring contracts for filler/cap space. Obviously not all of the above--gotta trust Morey to work his magic and keep some assets for another trade--but some of it.

I don't see any reason we'd even need to give up Lowry.

Only if Howard would sign an extension though, which sounds like is a big question mark.

Watch teh games, they all still play hard and do their job, they follow the game plan. You still can't cover up for team morale, trust, and chemistry. Basketball is a game of 5 when 4 out of the 5 knows the main guy doesn't trust them, that hurts the team, when he doest so in public and says they are not good enough to win and he needs to go or they need to go, then that does something. These things and their results are beyond 'trying hard'. Dwight is an idiot.

So what was his teammates excuse last year when Dwight averaged like 27 and 15 against Atlanta and they still didn't come close to winning that series?

I'm guessing the same thing that happened to Nuggets and Carmelo is happening to the Magic and Dwight. They aren't playing well because Dwight doesn't think his team is good enough to compete so his team is now playing like it. They aren't a championship team by any means but being blown out in games seems based on effort than anything else. Who knows, but if Dwight wants out, he should just sign somewhere else in the off season.

Sucks though because Orlando won't get anything in return. I guess its the Shaq situation all over again.

I remember people on this board saying Doc Rivers wasn't a good coach. He went into Orland without Rondo and Allen, down 27 points, and won the game.

Funny thing that isn't his most impressive victory.

Stan's a good coach. It's the Dwight thing that is torturing the players.

So Dwight is willing to play for the bulls? Not sure if Orlando would send him to a power house considering it would be hard to get anything in return compared to the previously mentioned gasol/Bynum or griffin Jordan.

I supposed deng, Gibson, Noah, and a first for Dwight and Turk could be plausible. Noah is from Florida and that could be a selling point and seems to be a fan fav and getting rid of Turk would be great.

    Deng, Gibby, Noah, eh???

Offer would most likely be Noah (florida), Boozer, Deng for Dwight, Hedo, Davis, and Duhon.

That's a decently attractive deal. Although I think Dalembert, Scola, and Lowry would be better.
