well the truth of the matter is even the left recognizes that Obama can't govern. That's obvious to all Newt has the experience working with Congress -- MUCH more qualified that King Barry and Mitt is just smarter than Barry I'd rather have Newt or Mitt instead of the current dud we've got
the point is, on the signature issues of our time, he's done nothing but demagogue. what his solution to the deficit? tax the rich more. how much revenue would that actually produce? enough to make even a small dent in the over all deficit. even more damning, where the budget?
Interesting. So you consider the deficit the signature issue of our time? I think that's reasonable. So let's take a look: Obama: Proposed $1 trillion in tax increases; $3 trillion in spending cuts. Included long-term sustainable cuts to Medicare, Social Security, and Defense. Bipartisan in nature and addressed the GOP's biggest supposed issues (entitlements). This is a larger budget deficit cut than either the House or Senate GOP proposed. After nearing agreement with the Senate and House leadership of both parties, it was vetoed by the Tea Party. Mitt Romney: On your "signature issue", Romney is totally silent. Here's his campaign website: www.mittromney.com . Not only does he not list any solutions, but he doesn't even list it as an "issue" across the top of his website. If you explore a bit, you can find his "plan": http://www.mittromney.com/issues/spending Which is basically a bunch of nonsense minor cuts (5% to non-security discretionary spending!) that don't address the budget in any substantial way, along with this lovely bland "Undertake fundamental restructuring of government programs and services". Newt Gingrich: Also does not list deficit cutting as an issue on his campaign site: http://www.newt.org . Also called Paul Ryan's budget right-wing social engineering. Has not talked about budget issues outside of vague "we must cut the deficit". No specific plan on his website as far as I can find.
And I'd rather get bit by a lizard in the eye than have to read the drivel you post on this BBS when I go through D&D. Sadly, I am not going to get what I want. Gladly, neither will you.
bravo, Obama has a plan. how long has he been president? what's he actually done to address the problem, other than the stimulus and Obamacare, both of which have, and will, exacerbated the problem.
He proposed solutions, got consensus from both parties, and ended up getting vetoed by a crazy faction of the GOP - one that has caused Boehner numerous other problems as well. Obamacare is actually deficit friendly - its projected both in the short and long term to have a slight positive effect on the debt problem. The stimulus had a negative effect on the deficit (ignoring all the economic benefits), but it has no long-term impact and is no longer part of the budget. In fact, nothing Obama has proposed has made the long-term deficit worse: virtually everything is one time expenses or is paid for with other cuts.
one time spending of money you don't have does not make the deficit worse? how do you calculate that?
I think the stimulus spending your buddy GWB did was what broke the back of deficits. Trillions of dollars in tax cuts and wars is what you should be worried about if the deficit concerns you. If the deficit concerns you, you should be applauding the reduction in military spending, and you should be for higher taxes. But you are not, which is why we all know you are a phony with the deficit stuff and just being a partisan.
LMAO UThug has become irrelevant on the national stage due to their QB debacle. How many points will OU paste them by next year? BWAAAHAHAHAHAHA
Wait, I thought you went to Rice. Didn't realize you went to ou. Now it all makes sense: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/-iYY2FQHFwE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I'm just enjoying the debates and the long drawn out primary Basso. I think it will toughen up whomever will emerge as the nominee. One thing is clear to me, the Rupub establishment does not think we can defeat Barry, they're just content with taking the House and Senate and try to force Barry's hand. They are going hard after Newt and the tea parties. Sometimes and I don't know who esteban hates more: the lefties or the Repub establishment!
No kidding. It's just this childish fixation they have. Have to make up or use pet names for people, otherwise they might be mistaken for being respectful or worse yet, sane.
