Lets look at this from value. Is Carmelo a player on a better team than us in each of the last two years? No. Is he going up in value? No. Is he one dimensional like Kevin Martin? Yes. Is that the reason people say Kevin Martin is worth less? Yes. Do Kevin Martin and Carmelo score nearly the same? Yes. Are the Knicks one of the worst teams currently? yes. Are the Rockets one of the best teams with its players? The answer is yes. That means things have changed. Our main players who win have gained value.
You have to make that deal in my mind. Lowry is a nice player that seems to have made "the jump," but you are only going to have so many chances to get a player the caliber of a Melo. I'm with all of you that can't stand the guy personally, but I just don't think you can pass up the chance to get a superstar. On a side note, how quickly has the Knicks situation fallen apart? That has been the definition of a precipitous fall.
I don't see why anyone would dislike the guy personally. Most people dislike his game, he's a perennial loser.
Melo took the Nuggets all the way to the Western Conference Finals a couple years ago, and were actually favored over the Lakers to take that series. How soon people forget how big of a force Carmelo is.
I dunno, I wouldn't want to make that decision. The guy does not play defense at all. It's not like Tmac, who would play at the end of games, or during the playoffs. This guy just doesn't play any period, like Martin...having both Martin and Melo...no thanks If we could send Martin for Melo I'd be happy, but that ain't happenin. I like our team, I feel with a backup center we'd be complete. PG rotation is set SG is set SF a little weak, but not as bad as i thought it would be PF set C needs a backup Plug Melo into the SF spot, and keep Martin and we have no defense in our starting lineup again. Plug Melo in and bring in a SG and I would be interested...perhaps even Lee could start as SG.
Except for the fact that he's never been on a losing team except for this year, you would be correct.
When you state it as a superstar for a quality player obviously its a no brainier in talent. However team ball is what is going to win you games. Melo is only going to be effective when he has a good system based for him. Lowry is so much better in the long run and always will be. Team basketball is always going to prevail (we've seen enough basketball black-holes ) Denver's record i believe was stated yesterday by Wilbon after Melo left, something like 30-6 while NY is a loosing one. NY almost beat MIA the other night (yes they got hot from three) because they shared the basketball and other players were able to get the ball.
Melo needs a dominant pg or he becomes an insane black hole that destroys team chemistry. It's no coincidence that Amare is having his worst season now that Melo joined the Knicks. The Knicks almost never get layups or dunks in the halfcourt offense. Excruciating to watch.
Don't know about that...the Nugs have won 72% or so of their games since his departure...The knicks are lottery bound since his arrival...Your heart might have to skip a beat on this one...
We took them to 7 with half a team, Nugs couldn't even do that lol. I guess TMac is a winner too right?
