That's one of the better non-Olajuwon dream shakes that I've seen. However, it's one of those moves that's often imitated, but never really duplicated.
On a 10 scale thats like a 5 in resemblance. More a Yao "Shangai Shake" Look more like a regular fallaway jumper. And a slow turnaround from a faceup postion, took him like 4 seconds to pivot around. The signature Olajuwoan Dream Shake involves a quicker change-of-direction spin move with a head or ball fake. <object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Q-9XNZHW8W8?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Q-9XNZHW8W8?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
It was smooth, efficient, and the correct move according to Jordan's defense. Without the announcer saying anything, I would have thought "wow, did he just pull a Dream Shake?" Which, for me to ask that question is good enough for me! I am impressed. We like to think that because Dream was immortal among men in his days that his moves are impossible to replicate. While, for some players (Yao) that may be true. I think that was a great imitation. It's one move. But props. Garnett's is too choppy.
No, that's not a Dream Shake. A Dream Shake requires a hard ball fake going one way and then a spin going the other way into a shot. Haddadi's was just a turn around fadeaway kind of like what Ewing used to do.
Let Hakeem describe it himself. "They know you're going to turn. But they don't know WHICH way, and they don't know WHEN". "Misdirect the guy, and go back" <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/29WpgU0pqN8?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/29WpgU0pqN8?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> Hakeem's moves can DEFINITELY be replicated, and have been. Yes Haddadi did a generic Dream Shake (at 1:06 in the above vid is a similar Dream Shake by Hakeem). Just A SIGNATURE Dream Shake is a little more than that. Garnett's moves were choppy. Though it had more the "misdirection" that Hakeem describes.
Only the Dream can do the dream shake. Was that Haddadi? Dude looks fat (Swoly: That's what she said).
That's the traditional dream shake, but it had it's variations. Haddadi did fake going left, enough for Jordan react to it, then Haddadi leaves him frozen as he spins back. It's a bad angle, so i can't see his feet after he spins, but it looked solid. Not great, but not bad. KG's wasn't smooth as at all. Making the shot had more to do with his length than how well the moves were executed.
