    Yeah, they all say that.

If county jail is hell, I don't know how to describe state jail.

Sorry to hear PG, hang in there.

I got locked up for a night once in the d-tank in college for public intox, in retrospect it probably wasnt' that bad; but at the time it was pretty miserable to be in there with two other tools, one was a DUI and the other was some miserable junkie of some sort who kept convulsing.

The sound of the door sliding shut was as bad as it is in movies/tv. Was really glad when they let me out in the AM.

You were lucky. That kind of stuff could convict you as a sex offender if there are people, especially kids, around.

Don't ever pee in the public, never, especially in the park where kids playing.

i think that's pretty much the situation. i didn't want to wait to go to court but in retrospect i could have.

when you wait to go to trial you are at the mercy of waiting for the court to get its ducks in a row. i was in there with people who were waiting over six months to go to trials, but they were facing some real time.

on jobs, i was asking everyone what they did. there was this black guy who had previous convictions from crack use. he was a truck driver and he was waiting to face fed charges for selling stolen diesel fuel. anyway, he taught me a lot about the industry.

This is just not true. Companies are checking background/criminal history more and more, some even credit checks that they feel shows responsibility or lack thereof.

My company will hire you and then run background checks. I've seen people get pulled off of the job after being there two weeks or more, because they lied about their history. This said, my company will keep you if they find something but you were honest.

Good luck with your search pgabs.

I went to county like 6 years ago when I was 19 for like a week. It sucks. I got arrested on Christmas day which made it even worse. Crazy stuff happens in there. I seen the guards beat up inmates on two different occasions for talking mess. Seen two inmates fighting over a bunk. Seen a group of 3 little white kids get jumped by over 6 people and then get all there commissary stolen. It was one of the reasons I straightened up. Do not ever want to go back.

    Sorry to hear this, pgabriel.

In my younger years I went twice, only overnight each time, though both times they did hold me more than 24 hours without a charge. I had one expunged and one dismissed.

At county, once we were naked in a line, they had us turn around, bend over and then we were instructed, and this is a quote, no lie, to:

"Spread yer butt-cheeks, lift up yer nutsack."

Our public servants at work. I had zero problems with the other inmates (if one is called an inmate on his first night) but the cops were serious dicks. It was almost as if they felt it necessary to punish us as much as possible before we got to court in case we were found innocent.

Worst moment was seeing a middle aged black man, who had obviously never been to jail and was scared out of his wits, shaking and crying, yanked roughly into a back room because he failed to "shut the **** up" when instructed. While we all waited to enter our cell, we heard the beating and the screaming from behind the closed door.

    **** tha police.

What's your damage? Did you not read the paragraph right before that one? I 'witnessed' cops beating a man for being scared and unable to stop crying. Yes, **** them. **** them with a baseball bat.

I guess I should judge all black people if I saw a black person commit a crime. All Muslims are extremist. All white people are KKK members. I am going to generalize everyone based on the actions of a select few.

There are good cops, but this is not the only time I've witnessed gross abuse of power. I've seen it time and time again. When I was younger I had long hair and had my car searched every single time I was pulled over, always treated incredibly disrespectfully no matter that I was all yes sir/no sir. I was asked, "How many times have you been arrested?" None, I said. "How'd you get away with that?" Once I parked in front of my own (my parents) house when I was 18 and was stopped for no reason before I could go inside. (West U.) "What are you doing here?" "I live here." "Then how come I never seen you here?" "No disrespect sir, but maybe because you don't live here." "Shut the **** up, smartass. Keep your hands where I can see em." This, after I've shown my DL with the very address on it. Still they run my DL and don't even say sorry before allowing me to enter my own house. I could tell ten more that happened to me. And I was profiled for long hair. I'm white. I can't imagine how I'd feel about the police if I were black.

Way too many cops, especially in Texas, give the police a bad name.

The difference between cops and other groups (blacks, Muslims, whatever) is that they carry guns and are empowered to use them. They have power and many abuse it. So yes, hell yes, **** them.

**** them for cruising through red lights because they just don't feel like waiting, **** them for pulling people over because they don't like their looks, **** them for pulling blacks over because they're in expensive cars.

If you don't think the police have earned their bad reputation with many people you're living in a fantasy world.

I'm bald now and 42. They stopped messing with me when I got out of my 20s and cut my hair, but I'll never forget the many times I was humiliated or mistreated by them for no good reason.

Actually, not true that they haven't messed with me since I cut my hair. Just six years ago I was naked in the back of my Jeep Cherokee with a woman who was also naked. We were getting down. All the windows were tinted so no one could see inside, but the back door was unlocked. A cop banged on the window and opened that door at the same time, barked at us to get out, didn't allow us to cover up as I requested (the woman was humiliated), had us stand naked with our hands on the car, asked me if I stole the car, and left us there with a blinding light shining on us while they ran the license (my name was on it and the registration - if I stole it I sure went to a lot of trouble) and while his partner sat in the car looking at us while we stood naked for 10 minutes with our hands on my car and our legs spread. After he ran the license it was "Get the **** out of here before I arrest you for ****ing in public."

    Yes, **** them.

This will be my final post on the matter. I can feel my blood pressure rising and I'm not getting any farther into a debate with someone that defends cops. Too many of them are abusive for no good reason. And I believe too many go into that profession just so they can be.

Once again, I'm sorry pgabs that you went through that. I'm glad your experience wasn't worse than it was.

I am mexican and I had a smart mouth growing up and I was never disrespected by cops of any race. I been busted for drugs, evading arrest in a motor vehicle, et., and been to jail numerous times. In both city and county jail I was treated fairly. I am not going to paint a picture of all cops based on a few bad apples.

I had no problem with the cops, there were eight to ten at my arrest. a little more info, they thought something bigger was going on. there was a plain closed cop there. okay, that's too much info, other that we weren't at the best location.

something else, the city jail i went to didn't have insulin. its in brazoria county. the judge told me i had to do seven days on the warrants but i only did five. i told them to ship me to the county jail because i didn't have my medicine and they didn't. the judge wouldn't do and even asked if someone could pick up my keys go to my apartment get my insulin and come back. i was like no way.

i'm thinking about filing a lawsuit.
