This is true, but some of the inactivity is him being lost in the new system, even Kmart struggled, but he got to play through it and find his way. Actually every single one of the players that played in Adelman's system are down offensively this year, and some are way down. It is a transition that is having an effect and some react differently....look at their FG%...or EFG% if you like the advanced stuff, they are all pretty low for their career averages. Hopefully they come up to their career norm soon....and hopefully Bud undertands his role a little better, though I think once Kmart is back it will negatively impact Chase again. DD
This is what happened to BUD.. 1. He has given up 2. He doesn't want IT no more 3. Lost respect for the game, doesn't wanna work hard 4. Money exploited his mind, he wants party
But who doesn't want to party?..... But has his moments, he's still young, jus' chill he's not a star but I think he will be a serviceable player for a long time
If he wants more play time it's pretty simple. He needs to bring it every night. Night in and night out he needs to have that extra pep in his step. If he can do all of that, and he stops getting clubbed like a baby seal on defense, he will be a great player in this league for many years to come.
Me too, it is weird that he is still at RGV, most of the time the team lets them play 5 or so games and brings them up, but that was under Adelman. Maybe a trade opens some PT for him, but he is a tweener, so not sure where he is gonna play. DD
Bud hasn't really improved his game since his rookie season, that's the alarming thing. We really need the young guys to take steps forward, like Lowry has done.
He's injured. He only played 3 games at RGV, so far. He's working out in Houston, last we heard. When he is ready to play again, he'll probably be sent down to the Vipers for a few. http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2012/01/rockets-rookie-marcus-morris-bides-time-while-hurt/
You mean without Lee. Lee has been the biggest contributor off the bench. Except for yesterday when he started.
Lee is a straight up SG, we need Bud to produce at the SF position off the bench. McHale can't milk the starters like that with these schedules, look at Lowry and Scola breaking down.
i like chase but his lack of defense is going to kill us. No matter how much parsons or lee scores theyre going to play good defense and thats important. I know people are saying Bud is back with his 21 points last night but that was against washington, the worst team in the league. Honestly, i'm happy he's playing only because his value in some kind of future trade is rising
Budinger already IS a 14-15 PPG player with starter's minutes. In this lesser offense Rockets offense more a 12-13 PPGer. Its just like "empty calories", he's an "empty scorer". Scores within the framework, decent rebounder, doesnt turn the ball over, nothing else. When he isnt scoring, he doesnt lend any intangible value. Budinger is past the "Better than TREVOR ARIZA" honeymoon and now has to progress into a legit contibutor.
Well said. Also, the reason he was so effective late in the season last year was because Adelman's motion offense, combined with Brad Miller's passing off the high post, and his chemistry with Lowry complemented his offense and type of athleticism- ie he's not a quick twitch athlete and needs some room to get going to utilize his vertical explosiveness. When he has room to get 2-3 steps on the defender's hip, he's very effective actually. He's also somewhat of a streaky shooter and sometimes needs to get moving and get easy buckets to get his shot going. Plain and simply, if he would've played with some more passion and awareness on both ends, he would be playing atleast consistent bench minutes, if not playing as his regular starter role. I agree that he's not as bad as people make him out to be though.
Yes, we do, but not every player is going to do that....it would be nice if we had a few more that did, maybe if Morey would draft guys that were not role players..... DD
Lee's numbers have seriously regressed this year, and CBud's are much better than his at least on offense.... DD
I believe Bud should start if Kmart is out with Clee, and if Kmart is in, Parsons should start. I like the offense/defense contrast between our wings..... However, I doubt McHale would go with alternating starters........ DD
