Beyond the stupid analysis above, if Ron Paul DOES get 500 delegates by some miracle, all that would mean is that it could lead to an open convention if Romney and Newt were to somehow split the remaining delegates. In that scenario, it's actually NOT a two man race: it's a many, many man race. And yet, Ron Paul will still not be one of those men.

You already admitted to not knowing anything about politics. Please stop regurgitating garbage you read anywhere: these people are as clueless as you are.

This is basically what I heard about the debate. Without Florida, I don't see much of a path forward for Gingrich. Can't say impossible given the nature of this race, but without momentum, debates, or money, February is going to be a disaster for him. And without February, I don't see how he is competitive on Super Tuesday. It's interesting how he continues to expand his lead in the national polls even as he's taking a nosedive in Florida.

He needs to go on a weekend spending spree in FL - every dollar he and his SuperPACs have on hand should be spent here. He loses and his campaign is probably over anyway. He wins, and he'll get plenty more money.

EDIT: for younger viewers, this is Bob Newhart playing the role of Major Major Major Major in Catch-22.

Folks- Romney is the nominee. I won't comment on whether that's a good thing or not, but it's reality.

He's here, don't jeer, get used to it.

Just loved watching Gingrich in the debate, talking up a moon colony, before the Chinese can do it.

Coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs. Crap straight from the Project for the New American Century. Let people starve, go without benefits, have no job; but it's okay to start wasting trillions of dollars for a space colony that'd never pan out anyway.

The worst the Republican party has to offer. Seriously.

sci/tech research efforts spearhead economic growth. and compared to the third rails, nasa spending is chump change. there's plenty of things to bash newt about, but having ambitious goals is not one of them.

Agreed - I don't necessarily agree with the specifics, but I think having big ideas and big goals is a good thing for a society. At the very least, it's different than the GOP's standard "government is bad / cut everything" nonsense philosophy.

I'm just trying to use a little bit of common sense here...

According to a report released today (1/28/12), the remaining funds of the candidates look like this:
Santorum has $189,557 cash on hand.
Gingrich has $353,417 cash on hand.
Paul has $3,674,768 cash on hand.
Romney has $14,656,966 cash on hand.

Santorum should've went the Ron Paul route and skipped Florida (winner takes all) when you're battling multi millionaires, and moved on to the caucus states. Paul will be in this thing til it ends, no doubt about that. If Santorum somehow finishes 3rd in Florida, he is done.

So that leaves Paul, Newt and Mitt. I don't know about you, but I don't think Newt will last much longer. He had the blood thirsty Christians of South Carolina on his side for some odd reason, and it will result in Paul being the only alternative to Romney.

Paul is a better debater then he gets credit (and media time) for. Did you know Florida ran a 30 minute program about Ron Paul and his political views? Did you see the 35 minute speech he gave to the people of Maine yesterday? It was undeniable that the word is spreading.

They are trying to pull out all the trash they can find to discredit Ron Paul. It's sad that middle school kids can see the truth come out when Ron Paul speaks opposed to the other candidates that most of the nation fails to see. He is honest, he truly believes in what he says, and over time his supporters get reinsurance when things he has warned us about years and years ago happen, and all we hear is the gulps coming from of his deepest critics that he was right, and they have to find a way to dance around admitting it.

Can you imagine if most of the Floridians voting on Tuesday KNEW that at the end of the day, state by state, it will be Paul/Mitt left. Have you not NOTICED how Mitt and Newt are now treating Paul like a gentle old man, give him compliments, make him smile, agree with him on many things they opposed a while back. They know even if Paul doesn't get the nomination, that they can not beat Obama without Paul's help.

This thread worked a lot better when it was an actual discussion about the candidates' prospects and the process, rather than Ron Paul fanatics spewing nonsense about their candidate.

It's fascinating to see the insecurity of Ron Paul voters. No one here is voting for Ron Paul except the people already committed. You don't see people trying to argue for Newt or Romney or anyone else. It's just Ron Paul people that seem to be posting "please look at me!" junk. Amusingly, given the source, all it does is reinforce that Ron Paul's base is full of the lunatic fringe conspiracy theorists who believe anything anyone says. Outside of getting a crazy racist or criminal, ToyCen probably is about as bad a possible promoter as Ron Paul could come up with.

WRONG!!!, that was fast. I'm a Paul supporter and I've already conceded that Paul go plan b. fyi... i think he already has internally. If you watch the debates you will see every candidate respect level (also media) has increased. why?, because you can't beat obama without the young voters and independents. so in my view Paul's campaign has been very successful because they have to pay attention to him and his issues.

personally, i'm thinking romney has to convince the paul supporters that they agree on enough issues to secure their vote. that's what i'm hoping happens.

so i'm here to tell you that we are not lunatic fringe conspiracy theorists. so make like everyone else and start respecting Paul for his accomplishments and respect his voters as well. they will be a force one way or another.

To be fair, he voted for MLK day in 1979 (which designated the 3rd Monday in January as the holiday). If you are interested in knowing if Dr. Paul is a racist or not, please go through the evidence and decide for yourself. Although I say he is to blame for not paying attention his newsletters, to say he is a racist - IMO - is completely wrong.

p.s. Someone found out who the author of those racist newsletters was. Apparently, it was a man named James B. Powell.

Hmm....I'm voting for Paul on April 3rd, but I am not insecure nor do I go around posting "please look at me" junk all the time. Nor do I blindly agree with or follow all of Paul's positions. Please don't generalize all Paul supporters based on ToyCen...
