I like this trade more than the Pau trade, but I'm still pretty torn. Amare is a 2nd tier star with a max contract, microfracture'd knees and a lack of defense. Is that the best Houston can do? I almost want to say yes, in which case I would do the deal. Still remember talks of a McGrady-Stoudemire trade back in the '09 offseason. This deal would pretty much make it happen, albeit a few years too late.
We have to have 2nd tier stars to draw other stars.... no stars.. no one wants play with you. Lowry/Flynn Kmart/Lee Parsons/Budinger Amare/ Patterson Dalembert/Hill can even go with a speed line up with Lowry Kmart Lee Patterson Amare Would be sickkkkk.
Wooooww.... as if you guys wouldnt do this trade in a heartbeat - stoudamire with the balanced knicks team b4 the melo trade was doing amazing - the rockets would be a lot more talented than what he had to work with - scola, dragic and a pick would be highway robbery for us - and if stoudamire doesnt do well, we can get a lot more back in a trade with him then we gave up to get him

lol i dont even play 2k12... i only still roll with a n64 haha - i agree he's overrated but he is a lot more valuable than scola, dragic and a mid-low teens pick in this draft - stoudamire with lowry and martin would be a lethal combo and his defensive problems will be covered by dalembert... plus he is a better defender than scola - we need to shed roster spots on our team to give more minutes to players and we also have dmo, maybe lull and our draft pick coming in next year ps. the knicks would obviously not accept this trade but IF they had no better offers, this would be great for us
At this point Gasol deserves Stoudamire's contract than vice versa. Gasol is much better and doesn't have immediate issues.
It was Martin, scola, dragic and our 1st rd Pick for Pau Gasol. So you take away Martin in the package and you get Amare and you still don't like it? But it's ok to throw in our leading scorer in the deal for a soon to be 32 year old Pau Gasol? I know we all want Dwight Howard or a high lottery pick, but if this deal was on the table, Morey would definitely pull the trigger. Besides, amare+martin+09ers would be a more tempting package for orlando than a Scola+Martin+09ers. Hehe
Why would Orlando want to trade with us when they can just trade with NY straight up. It looks to be Lakers and Orlando that will be making the trade anyways.
This is probably the cheapest "the trade" that can be made player-wise. Scola's declining, Goran, as good as he is, isn't that big a loss and we still risk losing the pick if NY gets lucky. Stoudamire's overpaid and overrated, sure, but he's still in the upper echelon of PFs. A rotation of Stoudamire/Patterson/Dalembert/Motiejunas next season will be absolutely solid.
