I trash on Cbud but he won the game for us tonight. Credit where credit is due. Agree with those saying Parsons/Cbud works. Chandler still plays a bit nervous with the ball but I think that will pass.

If he would stop fading away on his threes he would hit a much higher %, i believe.

True, but he'd get more open looks playing the 4 and maybe get some of those shots to drop. I think he's savvy enough to defend the position, too. Worth a try.

Was just kidding. I think he played some 4 against both MIL and MIN and expect him to do so again in the right matchup. I think he also played the 4 against SA one game, was defended by Bonner one possession, drove by him from the 3 pt line for a layup and Pop immediately subbed Leonard for Bonner.

    From the Chronicle:

    --------------------------------------

Either way, when Budinger got his chance he jolted the Rockets out of some first-half doldrums, then returned to the floor to send the Rockets to a 103-76 blowout of the Wizards on Friday, their biggest rout of the season.

“It was very (difficult), especially when you’ve been playing for a couple of years, getting consistent minutes,” Budinger said of falling out of the Rockets rotation soon after Courtney Lee returned from his calf injury. “You just have to be a professional in this circumstance, be ready and wait for an opportunity like I got tonight.

“It’s a lot tougher said than done.”

Budinger had not left the bench in the previous three games and sat through a half of several others. With a chance to earn playing time, Budinger made the most of it, scoring 21 points with eight rebounds, both season highs, in 24 minutes. His 11 first-half points snapped the Rockets from an offensive funk, putting them in position for the 23-0 run in the second half that turned the game into a blowout.

Asked if he thought he might have earned a return to the rotation, even with Martin expected back as soon as Saturday against the Knicks, Budinger left it at “hopefully.” Rockets coach Kevin McHale, however, offered an indication he’d give Budinger a chance for an encore.

“There’s no question … any time you play like that and stay ready like that, it warrants more time,” McHale said. “He did what you’re supposed to do. That’s really not easy when you’re a young player like Chase.

“I know he was upset. I know when he doesn’t play that he is very upset. But he worked at his game. It’s funny when you keep your head down and work really hard and stay professional, it pays off for you. And it did.

“Chase made shots for us tonight, played wonderful defense, moved his feet well. He played really, really well.”

This really demonstrates how capable McHale is as a coach.

Brilliant coaching by McHale. Looks like his strategy for getting Budinger out of his doldrums by benching him for a few games worked out.

Agreed, sitting his ass out apparently made him into a better shooter and defender in the span of roughly a week. This is ****ing royal jelly for you.

LOL - you guys are funny, I think injuries forced McHale to realize his obvious mistake.

    Different strokes I guess.

Well done both McHale and Budinger. But now Morey is saying..."cool, my asset's value is increasing again. Sell high?"

Bud can have good games against anyone because most of his shots are open. The problem is producing consistently and offering something when the shots aren't falling. Bud right now is a one trick pony that does his trick only once in a while.

what mistake, exactly? 7 game winning streak and all. The 3 days DNP-CD got Budinger's head back on straight, at a perfect time when we didn't need him and we developed Parsons.

McHale developed Parsons AND got Bud back to performing at the SAME time.

I don't get it. What mistake happened here?

    There was no mistake.

Bud is good off the bench against bad teams.

Martin will return and Bud will get DNPs again. :(

This performance by Bud shows how expendable Martin OR Budinger are.

I really think Chase could be Martin-light if the Rockets decide to move Martin, but I also think that as long as Martin is on this team that Chase does not have a role -- even if Lee or Parsons get injured.

It means he's less filling (in that he does not fill up the basket as much).

Chase had a role last year with Martin...I mean, they started together. I think you mean Parsons. Chase would have his role from last year if Parsons was not on the team.

No, I mean Martin. This is a different team than the one last year and there are different roles to be filled. Chase and Martin do the same thing on the court, Chase and Parsons do not.

Just to clarify, I think Chase can play the two defensively just as well or better than Martin, and that their offensive roles are much more similar than Chase and Parsons (or Chase and anyone else, for that matter).

Chase's role is coming off the bench. That's better than DNP-CD. If we move Martin, and don't get a SG back, then Lee will start like he did today. It will be Lee and Parsons, not Chase and Parsons.

I'm not sure what you are saying.

    And don't forget Morris.
