But maybe he develops into a championship PF piece. Keep our core, including Dalembert as our starting center, and sign Lopez to a free agent deal. We pull the trigger quick on Lopez with a big contract, and maybe New Jersey does not match within three days because they are still courting both Deron and Howard, and have to keep their cap space open. NJ will need $16.3 and $19 million in cap space, respectively, to sign them. It would help our position if we could dump Scola at the trade deadline for an expiring contract (Minnesota?) or to a team under the cap or with a trade exception (Lakers?). Then we could keep Lee and still have mega-cap space available.
No this is a thoughtful response. And a real option if only Lopez would agree. I suspect he would want top dollar to do it and Morey likes deals.
If we can flip Kmart for another quality big, I'd love either Eric Gordan or Batum... I doubt we could get both though
How awesome would it be to get Howard? Just forget how unrealistic it is for a minute and imagine him standing there holding a Rockets shirt. I think CF would crash.
Much agreed... and honestly if i was driving when i found this news out i would feel bad for my passenger because i would probably crash as well... that being said... unless we make a Huge play and trade for howard in a trade it isnt happening... i dont think morey wants deron(or atleast i dont as i think he is no better then lowry and thus overrated)... i believe morey will go after some players with 'upside' who are decent players... i think we'll trade scola and martin before deadline to see how well Lee and ppat do as starters, if they do good i believe we'll re-sign them. Dragic is nice but i see someone overpaying for him much like what happened with jj barea. if it were up to me i would do something like this. re-sign Lee re-sign Dragic Offer sheet to Gordan and batum(most likely matched so wont happen) sign matt barnes offer k.love ridiculous money to only be matched my minny offer sheet to anthony randolph(possible signing) offer sheet hibbert and javele mcgee to once again only be matched by thier teams sign omer asik bring back ppat, dalem'bear', draft Gaurds realistic lineup Lowry/dragic Lee/parsons/rookie barnes/parsons/morris ppat/morris/randolph/motijunas asik/bear/randolph/motiejunas pipedream lineup lowry/dragic gordan/lee batum/parsons/morris love/ppat/morris hibbert/bear
We're going after Mike Miller, Kenyon Martin, Jamal Crawford, Joel Pryzbilla, and Keyon Dooling...Otherwise known as the draft class that got away...2000 NBA Draft class
Pursue Omer Asik. +1 Resign Courtney Lee. +1 Wait on Goran Dragic and give him a nice deal but realistically know he will be moved this year or next even if he's signed. Just a luxury we can't afford. Aggressively shop Luis & K Mart. I still think he should have amnestied K Mart after the trade was vetoed and he didn't move him for a 1st round pick so letting K Mart walk for little to nothing is perfectly fine. Trading Luis & K Mart for a young wing and a 1st round draft pick is all we need to do. Not sure how Dwight Howard to Houston even happens given that FA's aren't attracted to Houston but maybe with a few quick off season moves and re-signing Lee to a long-term contract would be something new and shiny to grab Howard's attention. We just don't have the young athletic and cheap talent that Orlando is looking for. The best thing we could do is trade our aging and expensive talent for picks and send those picks to Orlando with an expiring Dalembert and cheap Budinger. Maybe throw in Morris if they're interested? Houston gets: Hedo/Howard Orlando gets: Dalembert/Budinger/Morris/Any of our 09 draftees & multiple picks 3rd & 4th teams get: K-Mart/Scola/Any of our 09 draftees & Cash for those multiple picks Other than that, we can send him an iPad with Houston info, but Howard as a FA will sign with the Clippers before Houston.
Orlando would need to throw in a player like Richardson to sweeten the deal to make those picks higher. I doubt that happens in the off-season but if a trade happened now you could get a high pick for Richardson/Scola/K-Mart/T-Will haha, just depends on what a team likes and what Orlando is willing to throw in
Considering the lottery is 14 picks deep we would easily get a lottery pick for either Scola or Martin.
I think GW will opt out to get a better contract with Portland. They own his Bird Rights and can offer up to 5 yrs. It would take a lot of money to lure him away. http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/i...lace_will_not_seek_contract_extension_th.html
Its possible. Although Portland seems like just another good team no where close to a championship. Maybe he might consider leaving or Portland choosing to let him go. Still doesn't hurt to set up a meeting.
That's why I believe we're in a good position to pluck one of either Batum or Wallace away, because in the end, I don't think Portland will stay with status quo. Not extending the class of 2009 will help.
moery when u readng this at least can get a sum drafte pickings 4 scola by makin wizurd trades!!! dont' furget!!!
Keep Dalembert, Lee, Dragic, sign Omer Asik so we have another legitimate center, hope Lowry becomes good enough that we can make some noise in the playoffs with just a good all-around team?
FYI. I know this is off topic to the thread but didnt see one that had this information- -This morning on 1560 Bill Ingram of Hoopsworld reported that Courtney Lee had requested a trade from the Houston Rockets Courtney responded to a tweet that I sent him that this information is not true, and he never asked to be traded. Ok... hope that eases some curious minds..... Carry on.
