Yeah I'm sure DM would jump all over that trade. You basically upgrade Scola into Amare, and get tony douglas as a freebie. Not sure why the Knicks would do it though, they become lottery team + Melo LOL. Oh wait, they already are

Amare has a horrible contract and uninsurable knees but at least you won't have to give up anything major to get him in that trade. Lowry only makes 6M a year anyway, add that to Amare's 15 and you get 10.5M for Amare and Lowry, pretty even deal if you ask me. Amare's in contract for only 3-4 more years, I think his knees can last that long, esp. if we have DOnuts coming next year to back him up.

I would make that trade in a heartbeat. Amare's no worse than Scola on the boards or defensively, and he and Lowry would be hellacious in the PnR. Yes, I realize his knees might explode.

I think ppl have a perception of Amare based on his play this year, while disregarding his dominance last year. Carmelo's ball dominant, non play creating style has halted Amare's involvement in that offense. The lack of a lead point guard has only enhanced this problem.

To me, Amare is a risk worth taking b/c he is perceived by his peers as a star and therefore may even attract additional star power to Houston.

He may not be that much better than Scola, but I think you do that deal if the chance arises b/c I see him fitting in very well with the current squad.

Can't amnesty a player once you've traded for him

From the title I thought no but reading it and seeing who we give up, I'd say yes please...

Have to add filler to make it work. Thabeet at a minimum but I'd add TWill too just because I think his time is done here and might as well make it official.

I think EVERYONE is forgetting how Amare' was Averaging 28.5 PPG and 8.7 Rebounds before the melo deal and was dominating the court for the Knicks. The problem is he and melo have to simular a game and cannot co-exist on the same team and expect something spectacular.

He would fit in great with K-mart and K-Lo in the frontcourt!! GET ER DONE MOREY!

I would absoluately do this trade. I have been thinking NY would get rid of Amare to creat enough cap room for this summer to sign DWill. If they do this trade I think they will have enough room to sign 1 max contract this summer.

You people cry and complain about being stuck in mediocrity, but when a deal for a bona fide star comes along, and all we have to do is trade Scola and our backup PG, as well as a 15-20 pick, you say hell no? We are keeping ALL of our depth. We will have so much weapons on this team, I can easily see us making the NBA Finals.

Lowry, Flynn (until Llull comes over next season)
    Martin, Lee
    Parsons, Morris, Budinger
    Amare, Patterson
    Dalembert, Hill

That is a team that will become instant contenders.

Amar'e is playing with some of the dumbest PGs in the NBA (Toney Douglas, for instance). He'll set a screen for them and be open but they never look his way. Hell, they actually use Tyson Chandler more in PnR situations than Amar'e.

Not to mention Melo just hogs the ball most of the time.

I think you make this move if you can buy low.

    This.

Also, I don't think that Amare is strictly a money ball player. The trend line for his FG% (.557, .502, .426) is really scary given the trend line for his salary.
