Ok, so you “listened” to the fans by moving the start times up 30 minutes…I suppose that’s a start. What else could you do? What better place to find out than here on ClutchFans? Yes, everyone would love a winning team or a high flying player, but you can’t just wake up and find one of those sitting at your doorstep. What controllable changes could be made to bring more fans out to the games? What changes would you like to see made that would bring you out to more games? 1) Cheaper parking – offer free parking (or a discount) with the purchase of a ticket, or a group of tickets. 2) Cheaper concessions – offer value packs or combos to help people save money, or just lower the prices all together. 3) Cheaper tickets – are all of those additional fees really necessary? If so, then the next option would be to lower the face value of the tickets. 4) More/better promotional nights – I know each year I tend to buy additional tickets for games when they are giving away items I covet. 5) More items for the fans – what happened when bangers were thrown out to everyone throughout the game? Now it’s only the seats behind the baskets. 6) Bigger discount for buying in bulk – I think this speaks for itself, give a larger discount for season ticket holders or people buying packages. 7) More advantages for season ticket holders – how about a year long discount to the Rockets Shop? Concession discounts? 8) Better giveaways for season ticket holders – one year it was a jersey with your name on it, another it was some very nice luggage, last year? A Rockets blanket or some grilling tools…come on, you can do better than that. I remember a season ticket holder party at Dave & Buster's, the players were walking around playing games with their families. You could go up and meet the players, get autographs and chat. Now at a season ticket holder party if you're one of the first 500 you get a photo with a random player....pretty big downgrade. 9) Cheaper alcohol at the games – I put this by itself because doing this can make a big difference….usually more drinking means more spending. 10) Push the time back to 7:30, but still open the doors at 6:00 – Some people obviously won’t like this, but I preferred it when you had 1.5 hours before the game started to drink, shop and mingle versus now, only having 1 hour. I would say open the doors sooner, but 5:30 seems too early for the people that get off work at 5. 11) I was going to stop at 10, but thought I’d throw this in…..more special events for the fans – I remember one year there was a game where the first 50 people through the doors with their faces painted got autographs after the game. Little things like this go a long way. Give me a reason to be at the doors an hour before they open, and I’ll do it. I’m sure I could have gone on for much longer, but would like to hear from some other people. I’d also like to know if you agree or disagree with what I’ve listed here. Would any of this get you out to the games? What else would get you out to the games? We all love our Rockets, that’s why we’re here, and I’m sure we’d all like to support them in person, and maybe when we start winning, going to the playoffs, and get some big names that will happen, but until then a lot of us are going to need more reasons to make the trip and spend the money. Pugs Spoiler I'm a Season Ticket Holder and will continue to support the team no matter what happens, but what I really want is to see YOU out there.
Just go to talk the guys at MMP- George Postolos and Jim Crane They just went through some of this stuff.
I want Dwight Howard in a Rockets jersey. Do this and Les and the Rockets can do whatever the hell they want and the arena will be full every night. My solution is better because it's simpler.
It's not going to affect attendance, but some new jerseys would be nice. Time to put the Asian font to rest.
Wouldn't free parking with the purchase of a ticket = free parking, period. What was the reasoning for moving the time down? Games ended too late?
Definitely shouldn't start till 7:30pm. Any time earlier than that, barring holidays, is too early for people getting off work/stuck in traffic.
Owning a team isn't a democracy, not sure what's the purpose of this thread, if the fans had their way the Rockets would pay the fans to go to their games.
7:00 >>>> 7:30 IMO. I have kids I take to the games with me sometimes and getting out 30 minutes earlier makes getting them up for school the next morning that much easier. Also, I have not noticed less people in their seats to start the games with the earlier start times.
Correct me if I'm totally wrong. The problem is not the lack of revenue or ticket sales since most of the expensive lower bowl tickets have been purchase via corporate season tickets. The problem is getting people in the stands. Lowering prices doesn't help Les. Winning does.
LOL'D. I never buy tickets, heck, I haven't even watched a game YET this season, but I'd buy a ticket if the product showcased Dwight!
If I bought a season ticket...airfare and accommodation...from Australia? Heck I'd sleep in the locker room if I had to, just not the visitors one.
