I hate to break it to you but if you run for elected office by definition you are a "politician." Ron Paul is as much a politician as Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Barack Obama et al. Further as someone who has served for more than 20 years at the Federal level and ran for president three times he has been a DC politician far longer than Barack Obama.
I am listening to the rebroadcast of last night's debate and it is just sad how much they (Ron Paul excepted) are sucking up to Anti-Castro and Pro-Israeli lobbies. Gingrich is even standing by his statement that the Palestinians are an invented people in response to a questioner who has identified himself as a Palestinian American Republican.
Romney thoroughly took apart Newt last night. The moment of the debate in my mind was after Romney had beat Newt up on the investments and tax issue and he just stood there with his mouth shut when it was his turn to respond. Wolf Blitzer dealt him the hay maker when he said "I'm satisfied to move on if you are Mr. Speaker" and Newt just sort of smirked and grunted. I realize that Blitzer was saving Newt from sitting there looking like an ass after he had been proven dishonest in his accusations, but by being rescued by Wolf...a member of the MEDIA!!!!!...Newt lost all sorts of cool points.
that pissed me off, actually. the lack of sensitivity towards the questioner was, in newt's words, despicable.
This is what is so messed up about citizens united. You have one person who basically bankrolled Gingrich for SC & FL. Without that money, he is dead in the water. It’s just insane how one person can now influence entire primaries and elections. What’s the point of me donating my measly $50?
If I was in your shoes, I would buy some weed for the $50, get stoned, sit on the couch, and giggle at the Republican debates. Much better investment of time and money than donating to a political campaign.
No matter what the media wants you to believe, It’s already a two-man race. Of the 2,286 total Republican delegates, 1,144 are needed to win nomination. In five (5) States: Virginia, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee and Illinois, Gingrich and Santorum are not even on the ballot. That’s 564 delegates that they cannot get. After South Carolina, only 59 delegates have been allocated to the 4 candidates. Mitt Romney has 39 of those. This means Santorum or Gingrich has to pick up 1,144 delegates from the remaining 1,683. Let’s say that Paul only picks up 20% of the total number of delegates–I happen to believe he will do much better–but let’s pick 20%. That’s 457 delegates for Paul. Add that to the 564 that Newt and Santorum won’t have a shot at and now there are 1,021 delegates that Santorum and Gingrich have no chance of getting. Subtract that 1,021 from the total 2,286 and you’re left with 1,265 delegates. That means that Gingrich and Santorum, one or the other, have to pick up over 90% of the available delegates to get the nomination. So, essentially, we’re down to Paul and Romney. A vote for Gingrich and Santorum is a wasted vote! A vote for Paul is not a wasted vote and may well mean that the next President of the United States will be a man that, for the last 30 years, has never broken a promise, compromised his principles or waffled his position on an issue. A man that still believes that the Constitution of the United States is THE law of the land and that the protection of our individual liberties is the primary reason for the Federal government.
Oh where to start... I'm not sure what media you listen to, but that's exactly what the media is telling us: Newt vs Romney. This is true. Congrats! This may or may not be true, but only because not all filing deadlines have passed. Virginia is the only state where they really failed. Ummm, you need a new math source. Those 5 states don't have 25% of the GOP delegates. Sadly, bad analysis is the end result of bad math.
