yeah i knew, the cop got pissed off because he tried to toss it. yeah, but tickets are tickets, i really wasn't that bothered. i know it sounds ridiculous, but i getting through process is really the hard part. eight hours of waiting. getting naked in a small tank to change into jumpsuits with thirty new friends.

some conservatives might say its too easy. i'll say this i talk often about young black males going through the system. to see so many so young black and hispanics is eye opening.

they don't give a crap either. another kid got popped with a nice amount of drugs. he's like nineteen talking about taking the rap for his grandmother. he was like, they didn't even catch me on reup time.

    Sucks.
Issue comes when you passed over jobs that won't even bother
    to read the explaination.

    I know it sounds crazy
but I think everyone should spend some time in a holding tank.
    [Yes, I have been there. . . OF COURSE I HAVE I'M BLACK!! J/k]

just to sit and listen to the stories. . and the ignorance.
    The foolishness and the pain.

Some folx too comfortable in those things. . .hell they know the menu schedule

I spent "time" in the Harris county jail on two separate occasions and the city of Houston jail once. One on tickets and the other was assault (which was me protecting myself; don't have to get into that though)

Put it like this, if you ever get arrested, pray that you go to the city jail cause County is hell! seriously! If your impatient like me than this is not the place for you. Time crawls and sometimes i swear it stops. When your in there you realize how alone you are even though your surrounded by people. I wondered how the hell they keep track of all the people there. You feel lost and forgotten sometimes. Got a question to ask the guards? forget about it! Oatmeal pies and fake cold breakfast jacks without the egg is what you get to eat. My sandwich was 20% frozen so i had to keep it and my pocket to thaw out. You go from one cold concrete holding tank to another, listening to ignorant people who have no hope (sorry). Sad thing is there are a few people mixed in who are there for traffic tickets or something tiny.. but that doesn't matter cause you still get treated like a murder by the police in there. Sorry to ramble but i don't think you should go to jail for minor tickets..

Not to be cynical, but with the record you might have to lower your ask on the job search; maybe consider corporate admin, roughnecking, mining or just leaving the state, maybe just double down on the student loans and get an engineering tech or accounting degree. Also probably time for new friends, unforunately I think what little success I've had has come from being so isolated that I eventually just focused on school and work. Tough break on the arrest, I guess being a car owner in a possession case is pretty cut and dry.

Sorry to hear about the mess you're going through. Best of luck with the job search and getting past the legal crap with as little hassle as possible. Best of luck.

If it is defered adjudication you don't have to put anything on your job application, that means that you are not convincted when you serve out the sentence, it goes as a charges dropped situation.

    I second this.

Sorry to hear about your run in with the law but if I can give you some frank advice you really should have gotten your tickets taken care of before this happened. Like it or not having an arrest record isn't going to look good for potential employers and in this job market as RR noted you might not get the chance to explain it.

I don't know Texas employment law and haven't had a job interview in years but I recall that one question often asked is whether you have been "arrested".

dude, it really wasn't that big of a deal. at my age you don't want something stupid happening but i sat out the tickets and i look at like i did something positive or got something positive out of it.

i was doing something even more stupid when the situation happened that i don't want to get into, so i'm not complaining.

on deferred ajdudication, its on your record even though you're not convicted.

i was riding with someone i do some part time work with and honestly i was having a great day. it was really weird.

on my life in general, this is to pouhe's post

i have already been looking at trying to go to north dakota and work in the oil field. anything. i have a finance degree from uofh with some accounting hours and i've been thinking about going back to junior college and getting accounting degree. companies need cpas no matter what.

thanks for the concern guys, really i love this board

It's cool man. And to be honest, after thinking "damn that sucks" my next thought was of the skit in Chappelle's show where they spoof MTV's The Real World and Charlie Murphy plays the ex-con. I had the image of Charlie with that stupid huge chain around his neck, sneering "Yeeeeeeah, I been to PRISON!" in my head.

    Street cred, indeed. ;)

Depends on the job and the application and the interviewer.

"Have you ever received deferred adjudication...." can be on a job application.
