I'm not sure about better leaper, but even then...Parsons uses his hops far more effectively than Bud, by attacking the glass and not playing afraid.

All Parsons really needs is a consistent NBA jumper and that really can take him to the next level- a la Hedo Turkgolu.

He has that playmaker ability and at 6'10 is a terrible matchup for most NBA small forwards

Yeah Parsons seems to have the "knack" for making basketball plays... offensively and defensively

unlike a certain caucasian small forward we have on the team

that one should stick to volleyball

I think he is very similar to Battier in many aspects except for the dunking part.

He reminds me a lot of Derrick McKey.

    And the shooting.

But, yes, I'm reminded of Battier particularly on defense.

In 1-on-1 ISO situations (and its only a limited sample of 22 plays but still), Parsons has held his man to 2-17 shooting from the floor.

I don't remember Battier at Memphis, but Parson strikes me as having better handles, or at least he uses them more effectively. He drives more than Battier ever did here.

Man, if he could shoot like Battier, that would be awesome.

I'm gonna say there's a little Bobby Jones in Chandler Bang...Not on the same level defensively (but who is), he does do a bit of everything, just like Jones. Chandler's got a good feel for the game.

I think Parsons three point shooting will improve. It has to be an adjustment going to the longer three point distance in the pro's.

Parsons seem like a cross between Ariza and Battier on D. He's not as smart as Battier, but has more knack for the passing lane and more disruptive. He's also 6-10 which makes it so much easier for him to alter shots against SFs.

What's surprising is how he lasted until the 2nd round when he's the perfect fit for any contending team. Surely someone would've been willing to pay him 1-2mil a year to be the hustle guy to support the stars.

What's there to come back down to? He isn't shooting well.

I guess he could hit the rookie wall if that's what you mean.

The thing I like about prospects like Parsons is that they really can't "fall back too earth". They aren't shooters that can go hot and cold like Budinger.

What makes him great is his defense, BBall IQ, and hustle, you don't lose those even when you are struggling.

Why do you say that? It's not like he is on a hot strike hitting a lot of shots. What he does now is from hustle, skill and desire, something that he should be able to repeat every night for years to come. I would say if anything he will start getting better once he gets more comfortable with his shot and understands the NBA game better.
