Its like saying #1 pick James Worthy was being "incorrectly used" as a "role" player with the Magic/Kareem Lakers. So trade PRIME James Worthy for old Shane Battier, old Mike Miller & Mario Chalmers. Yes there is only one ball to go around and there are players who need touches to be effective, others are better off the ball. But you take the chance with the better player who does have some all-around game and versatility.
He's a good player, I don't know if he's a superstar. He's an all star player, and I'd consider him on the same level/tier as Lowry. Superstars: LBJ, DH, Kobe, Dirk, healthy Wade, CP3, good version of Deron, D. Rose, Blake Griffin All Stars: Bosh, Bynum, Rondo, Lowry, WB etc.
Because they're not going anywhere with just Bosh, LBJ and Wade? If Wade was healthy there's no point having Bosh because he'll only get a few touches a game. Wade and LBJ are enough superstars, they need a lot of role players who can supplement them instead of just 1 all star and d league guys. I'm not saying that package for is worth Bosh, but if Miami wants to be real contenders they need to trade him for some good players, as it is the season will wear their big 3 down to the ground before the playoffs even start.
He is playing like a borderline star, a star in his own rights..... There are all star starters and allstar reserves.... Bosh at his best is allstar starter lock..... and near to superstar as one can get Bosh at his worst is still borderline allstar......
You still don't understand the concept do you? Having a player of bosh caliber is greeat no matter these dumb clutchfan posters want to minimize it. Its great when you can have a guy who can be a #1 on any given night. Bosh just needs to stay aggressive when wade gets backs. If not for bosh, they don't beat the bulls because of wades struggles. That's the point that can't be minimized. Please don't buy into trading a star for role players theory ok?
No team in history has won with just 3 stars and dleaguers it just doesn't happen that way. However there have been multiple instances of just one superstar and multiple good players winning rings, like Hakeem, TD and Dirk-led teams. That's cause these players are human, and you'll have nights when the superstars are playing like crap, and nights when the role players are playing like superstars. The more quality depth you have the more you can minimize these fluctuations and always put out a good team. If all you have are deleague guys then your 3 stars should always put up career nights or you'll lose the game. Look at it another way, If LBJ scores 20, Bosh scores 20 and Wade scores 20 they only have 60 pts. You have to count on Chalmers and Battier scoring 30 each night just to get to 90.
Battier's a good player Obviously not a franchise player if you watched his stint in Toronto Really versatile second option though on Offence who can really put up numbers
Haslem, Norris Cole, and Mike Miller aren't scrubs. They actually have a decent 8 man rotation if Miller can stay healthy, with 5 decent role players around 3 superstars. the hole is at center, as Anthony and Curry don't contribute much.
Chalmers, miller, cole, aren't d-leaguers. Nor is shane battier. You make it seem like they average 60ppg which they don't. They're the highest scoring team in the league. They can easily find the role players you think they need. Those guys are interchangable and can be had easily top that off, its not like they only have a couple of years like boston had who by the way had 3 star players also. Wade just made 30,lbj is 27,and bosh is 28. Chalmers and cole are under 25 I think. When they feel the need to get role players, they can trade mike miller and battier. That's 10m in money. They can bust those deals up and get quality depth.
I see where you're going with that. Though NBA benches generally score around 30-35 pts a game. (Benches might give UP more points than they score, but thats around where they contribute) If we add in 30 bench points: Lebron 20, Bosh 20, Wade 20, Bench 30 = 90 That puts Battier and Chalmers closer to where they need to be, adding in 10-20 extra points
devil's advocate because i really have no opinion personally he didn't make the playoffs in the EAST where there weren't elite big men to compete with
It's obvious that Bosh cannot carry a team and cannot be the alpha dog of a championship team. He is like Pau Gasol, a fantastic second option and would thrive as a second option. Gasol's production has dropped off perhaps due to the emergence of Bynum and was relegated to the third option. Bosh is the same with Wade healthy. Both guys could be mentally fragile and disappear at the toughest moments.
Is it obvious? Who was the second best player Bosh ever had in Toronto? Is it even remotely possible that he was give a bad rap because of how poor Toronto management was?
So basically you're saying either of Barkley or Drexler are not superstars? Because your argument requires it to be impossible for 3 superstars to play together on one team at any one time (one of them would therefore be the 3rd option). Oh - and before you bring the silly "Hakeem, Chuck and Glyde were superstars before they played together" - well, yes. But isn't that the outlandish thing about Wade/ Bosh/ Lebron? They collaborated to play together in their primes as a big 3, rather than lumping themselves in together in their twilight years. For what it's worth, I'd agree that Bosh is a STAR, but not a SUPERSTAR - I just think you're argument is terrible!
