Sup fellas, In the market to purchase a new 46-55 inch tv....wanted to hear everyones prospectives on the new LED, LCD, and Plasma and what brand should I get? My friends told me that Sams and Walmart are lower quality tvs compared to Best Buy. I went to Best Buy and a Sharp rep talked to me about their Quartron LED TV. Does anyone know if the Quartron are better then the new Samsung or Sony LEDs? its about $200 cheaper, but I remember the old Sharp and their products sux. Thanks.

If you're willing to splurg, go Samsung or Panasonic. If you can barely tell the difference and don't care that much, or size is the most important to you (that's what she said) with a limited budget, a lesser brand is probably just fine. I have used Westinghouse and Vizio and had great success. That said, our main big tv is a relatively new Samsung plasma that I splurged on. Just hard to not splurge on a tv, as a man and all. Also, I went plasma because i liked the darker blacks, and found the picture to be much more realistic and less soap-opera'ish. And clearer.
Summation of when I last bought a TV (1 year ago): Best picture: Plasma Thinnest profile: LED/LCD Energy efficiency: LED/LCD Price: LCD If you go with a plasma, go with Panasonic. If you go with an LED/LCD, go with Samsung or LG.
Dude at the store was saying that Plasmas were more fragile and they seem to cost a bit more .. . . but I think I maybe willing to try it . . . . He mentioned the 600MHZ of smooth picture versus 120 Mhz that may have a little skippage Rocket River
It's Hz, not MHz... and the refresh rate doesn't really yield the clear picture. Your eye can only pick up 60 Hz, anyway. 120 Hz helps reduce the chance of jitter, and 240 Hz is for 3D (you need double the refresh rate for 3D). The 600 Hz selling point for a plasma is negligible. The picture is simply better. All flat screen TV's are fragile. You drop one, it'll break whether it's an LCD or a Plasma. That's an awful argument.
Plasmas are the best. He said they're fragile because you cant lay them down. Don't listen to store peeps.
I have a 52" Sharp Quatron LED 3D TV and I am happy with the quality. Tech support is great as well if you ever need them. They are located in the US and are open 7 days a week. They can even remote into your TV and adjust the settings. My brother has a 55" Samsung LED and I can't tell the difference between his and mine quality wise... Price wise mine was cheaper
