If he just signs the qualifying offer in the off-season and leaves next year, he'll get so much respect from me.
I love the way Gordon plays. Very underrated, he'd be an upgrade at the 2, especially if paired with other 2 way players like K-Low. Probably a D-Morey type move as well, seeing as if he doesn't get uber over-payed, he'll probably be outplaying his contract in his second or third year.
Mehh - I think Stern will still be happy. All he wants from the Hornets is something to make them "attractive" as a sales point. Should someone buy them, they are getting a very high lottery pick, QO on Gordon, and not TOO much committed salary next year. It's kind of a "clean slate" for anyone.
No they shouldn't have. You couldn't trade any of those players to acquire a UNPROTECTED pick in the 2012 draft. I bet the T-Wolves or any other team that thinks they can make the playoffs still wouldn't trade anyone their unprotected draft pick this season. Even the Mavs put top 20 protection on the pick they sent to LA. We aren't even a good bet for the playoffs so why would they be?
Gordon probably leaves or ties up the cap space of the Hornets. Either way, Hornets didn't get much from that CP3 deal, that Timberwolves pick will be a low lotto pick at best (unless the hand of Stern decides to intervene). This draft class looks very good, but I don't see anyone being a real franchise changer. Do they have any bids on the team yet?
Well IMHO we have a pretty good relationship with NO due to the failed trade. Misery loves company right? We should make a trade for Gordon at the deadline. Either Lee or Martin+2012 NY Knicks pick+C-bud is a fair offer IMHO esp. if Gordon doesn't want to be there.
I wouldn't give the Knicks pick, but Martin for Gordon or Lee for Gordon or good moves. Especially if we could steal Kaman or something.* *Kaman's contract expires and a backup center owuld be nice, especially if we're stll in the playoff hunt. No risk all reward.
Stern won't give Gordon up without an incentive to do so, Lee for Gordon is just a downgrade for them esp. since Lee is a FA as well. KM+pick will clear space and allow us to pay Gordon the exact salary KM is making.
Martin for Gordon is fine with me, especially if we can give them C-Bud, I just really want to keep the Knicks pick.
My proposed trade matches. Trade ID #6005110 This gives us a backup Center on a year long rental, and Gordon takes Martin's spot. Morris can take Bud's spot in the lineup.
Man, if New Orleans lost Gordon to the Pacers for nothing, it would be sweeeeeeet. Indiana would have to overpay, because New Orleans could match, and, well, because it's Indiana (although Gordon has ties there). Still......
I agree, Lowry and Gordon would be killer. This is probably one of the few scenarios in which I'd be fine trading away Martin. Not only that, Gordon is only 23 years old! The only other guy we need is Dwight and perhaps sign him in the off-season. Just think: Lowry, Gordon, Parsons, Patterson (assuming Scola goes with Martin) and Howard. I doubt this will happen but I can dream, right?
1) If he took the qualifying offer, they could still trade him 2) Does anybody think Gordon would take a $5 million qualifying offer when he could sign for $60 million? Gordon will either get his deal matched, or he'll be traded.
Nah don't be greedy guys, plus our back-court is pretty solid as it is. Knicks or Lakers could definitely use his services though. Honestly it probably came down to the fact that he wants to win NOW, not later. Hornets have some good pieces, and in a year or two they can be Portland ver 2 lol
Would Gordon actually be willing to play on a team where Kelvin Sampson is a coach? Is there bad blood there from the Indiana days?
