Another Texas embrrassing govenor. Dude could have remained under the radar and remained govenor forever. He really thought he could step up to the big leagues. Now his political career is over. I hope texans finally wake up to what's going on in their state government.

I'm a Republican (sort of) and I've known the guy was a complete BOOB since 2000.

It says a lot more about how idiotic Texas voters are than it says about Rick Perry. The guy has always been a moron and too many Texans are just figuring that out.

There's a good piece from the NYT last week by a Texas liberal about their reaction to the whole perry affair & what they told their non-texan friends - that he was an idiot but would cruise to the nomination, glee when he messed up, then a strange sense of shame after he flamed out that they got defeated/bullied by this buffoon for a decade.

    edit: here it is

    http://campaignstops.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/01/20/overmisunderestimating-rick-perry/?scp=1&sq=Perry%20Shame&st=cse

Reading the old perry thread here is very interesting, btw. Some people got it exactly right:

& others were more like the woman in the NYT op-ed or Nate Silver, who was really good in 2008 but has made some really bad calls in the repub race this year.

My friend Dave Nalle, who's the head of the Republican Liberty Caucus said this on twitter when Perry had his horrible debate bomb.

Don't count Texas out. Perry might win next time bigger than ever. We don't like no pointed headed intellectuals. Besides he is a good family man.

I don't know that there's much juice to this article.

He's been beaten up nationally so it makes sense he's down a bit locally. But at 40% approval (and 40% disapproval) he's only down 4 points from his previous low...and hardly disastrous. Especially when the margin of error is 3.5%

The comparisons to Obama are silly since they're doing different jobs. Unless president Obama plans to mosey on over to Texas in 2016 to clean up the mess.

and besides... 3% behind with a 3.5% margin of error doesn't mean much. Journalists should study up a bit on statistics if they're going to throw them about.

So maybe he's done in Texas? maybe no? Too early to tell. Too many other factors at play. Let's just be glad he was voted off the island on the National stage.

    per the article:

Obama's approval was 43% among adults and 41% among registered voters.
Perry had 40% among adults and 42% among registered voters.

Margin of error was 3.5% for adults and 3.8% for registered voters.

So...statistically....Obama doesn't have a higher approval rate. Both spreads are within the margin of error. A lead, within the margin of error, is not really a lead.

I wouldn't get cocky about the "future demise" of Rick Perry as Governor. I haven't liked him since he ran for Agriculture Commissioner, so I've been watching him a while. He's ruthless and he has rich extremists bankrolling him. The Democrats would need to find an honest to god good candidate, not the well intentioned guys with the charisma of a turnip that we've been seeing.

if you want to be obtuse about the article go ahead. i'm not having a dumbass argument.

if you don't understand the significance of the anti christ being tied with perry in texas in job approval rating i guess you haven't been watching politics the last eight years.

and i know you are smarter than this

Agreed, Texas is dumb enough to reelect Perry multiple times, they are dumb enough to vote for him again.

Say something wrong, have it explained to you politely why it is wrong, get angry.
