Did Rockets decline Hill's option later than the other guys' options as a way of telling him 'you're not entirely in the bust group...yet'? :p

For Rockets, young 2nd rounders are usually better than young 1st rounders, Lowry being the exemption so far.

We certainly have more than the average share of 2nd rounders on the team. Scola and Parsons for starters, and they are in the starting lineup. We also had big contributions from past 2nd ruonders such as Landry and Hayes

I hear ya but in Twills mind the Rox burned the bridge by not keeping him.

At the end of the day, These guys will be flipped for draft picks or simply will hit FA to create cap space. Tough love for sure by the Rox, but the right move in this instance. Hopefully they'll match Lee's offer.

If any of these guys pan out elsewhere it will be a large indictment on Moreys regime.

Hayes was not even drafted. CBud was a 2nd rounder with a wonderful rookie year. Though he failed to develop much since then.

Don't even see why the Rockets would go after a max player. Sad truth is, no one is coming here. [IMG]

They will be restricted free agents. The Rockets can try to sign them to smaller contracts or match any offers.

Is that right? I thought once the option were declined the 09ers become unrestricted free agents.

They will not agree and Rockets will not be interested in signing them again. There are tons of free agents who are better than them every summer.

All the declined options are unrestricted free agents, correct.

Well we need their contracts for trade filler one of the issues with Moreyball is that you have no large contracts to trade for a superstsr.

They can be traded as cap space. Almost 14 mil of expiring contracts.
