Using a different browser doesn't not hide your IP address, correct. What it does allow you to do is have a convenient way to surf sites without having you auto-logged on to the sites that you normally auto-log onto. This way you can do a Google search without having to sign out first. You also don't have to worry about accidentally "liking" something and having it show up on your Facebook profile. Also, you can keep separate privacy settings for this browser vs. your daily (like how long stuff stays in your history and if your cache gets deleted automatically everytime you close the browser, etc...).

This is not really what I was suggesting earlier but to take your idea one step further... if you use Firefox as your "questionable content" browser you can have TOR setup so that your IP is conveniently masked as well without having to muck with the settings on your daily browser.

Granted, you can do all this with one browser, but it's a pain to keep track of all the settings you have to change unless you could do profiles or something. Actually, that would not be a bad idea... just have a different user account (Windows makes it easy) for alone time... And if you wanted to get REAL geeky, install Virtual PC and use a VM for alone time. That makes it real easy to hide the evidence from snoopy SOs. Doesn't mask your IP, though, unless you also use a proxy...

Give me a break. This was only a matter of time and it's only the start. Other companies will follow suit.

Sharing information between GOOGLE services doesn't bother me. Sharing information with other parties does.

If you're worried about this, you should probably just hide under your bed in a fetal position all day.

Yeah.. this whole thing with SOPA is getting me paranoid... must stop my illegal activities!! After re-reading the Gizmodo article it makes sense for them to do that.

I don't like this at all. This is bad news. See I used google to find a bunch of dating websites because I have a hard time meeting the females. Im worried that google is going to use this in its ad optimization formula for YouTube. What do I do when my friends are over hanging out and we are checking out YouTube? Google is going to use this information to display dating website ads so when my friends use my computer to check out YouTube they'll be like "dude you get a lot of dating website ads. I wonder why." They will then think of this article and put two and two together then laugh at me as they discover my dark secret.

I think I've had my Yahoo account since 1995. It was my first email account and is still my primary.

    Do you use Yahoo?
I'm not even trying to be racist but all of my family in Mexico uses Yahoo for their e-mail, and for search. Most homepages I see out there is mx.yahoo.com

I'm pretty sure they are planning on that. I mean why cross reference info if not to be able to sell that info to advertisers?
