The laws he gets passed are moderate because that is what happens when you compromise, as it should be. I would argue he is not moderate on taking away our liberties. And his personal views are not moderate.
Let me save you the trouble. 2012 STATE OF THE UNION CLIFF'S NOTES Inherited a mess Need time to right the ship/get the car out of the ditch ... um... Rich need to pay their fair share Keynesian smoke and mirrors ... ah... Class warfare *finger pointing and wagging* Green jobs More debt
The people who think Obama is engaging in 'class warfare' are going to **** themselves for 24 hours, non-stop (just a massive ****ting-themselves attack without reprieve) if real class warfare ever happens.
Holy hell. Compromise? You mean "do it our way or we're taking our ball and going home"? Have you not been paying attention to anything going on in Congress the last 3 years?
Actually, it wasn't. It was one of the few pieces of legislation Obama got through with zero Republican support. Otherwise, there's been an unprecedented work stoppage in Washington by our pubbie friends. Literally their way or the highway. The least cooperative, uncompromising Congress in history, bar none. Compromise here implies both sides surrender things. That is simply not the case.
helped in no part by Obama's complete failure to work with them. To blame it all on the Republicans is quite hilarious. Obama was supposed to be the UNITER! another fail
Then why didn't it have all of the things Obama originally wanted? He took them out himself. You aren't even making sense. He presented a bill, he compromised for a different one.
When you say he made "moderate" policies because he compromised, you're implying that Obama's stance was liberal, and the Congress' stance was conservative, and they met somewhere in the middle. When in reality, they didn't meet in the middle, and Obama has routinely had to give into their demands *wholesale* to get anything done. Not a 50/50 split on points. A literal "take all of your stuff out and put all of our stuff in or we're not doing it". That's not "moderate" policy. If you want to say he compromised, fine. (he moreso surrendered than compromised) But don't say that ish is "moderate".
So if I understand what you are saying, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is conservative and not moderate legislation?
This is so indicative of today's governance. Moderate is the new liberal. Conservative is the new moderate. Uber-batsh1t-crazy is the new conservative. Keep moving those goalposts. Ronald Reagan is already a flaming pinko by today's standards.
...so do we need a separate post game SOTU thread, or should we just ask Clutch to amend the title with the score and the page number when the speech ended for those of us who don't follow it live yet want the break between pre/ingame whining and post game b****ing?
