I finally tried Hubcap Grill downtown last week. It was good but not the best in town. Langford Grocery definitely has it beat imo.
Studying in Austin, I've been exposed to a lot of great burgers and BBQ. But Smashburger in Houston is the closest burger that I have tasted that is as good as the new, but legendary HopDoddy's in Austin.
Went there for the first time in years a few weeks back. I think they have new owners or chef or something. Just not the same. Used to be out of this world, now... meh.
You clearly don't eat in Houston enough young padawan. Also, get out of here with your pompous "austin is better" crap. This thread is about Htown.
Annie's on South Post Oak is pretty good, don't really ever go there, it's too far. Around where I live I'm a big fan of Southwells and Burger Shack. Best I know is Pappa's Burgers though, their shakes are pretty good too
I'm gonna try Langford next but heard from a trusted source that it wasn't as good as Bernies or Petrol Station.
Kinda gone downhill lately (I live 5 minutes from the place). Their breakfasts remain pretty good though. I need to try Bernie's Burger Bus. I've heard great things about it.
My favorite in Houston is Christian's Tailgate. Lankford was a close second. I think Beck's is pretty meh. Tonight I'm going to try Hopdoddy's in Austin, we'll see how it stacks up.
OMG thats a franchise right bro!?! you can't mention that junk in here!!1 (only places people don't hear of...)
There is only one option at Lankford: Grimm burger. Unless it's Saturday, then get the Texas Chicken Hash. Becks Prime is alright, but if you haven't tried a non-chain burger place you're missing out. There are plenty of great options out there: Christian's, Lankford, Hubcap, Burger Guys, Bernie's, Bubba's. The list goes on and on.
This is amazing to me because I saw very little difference in their burgers and the Whataburger across the street. Southwell's was probably the most disappointing burger joint I've ever been to. Those patties are way to thin.
