Seriously 5.5 PPG on 34.3% FG and 14.7% from beyond the arc? I understand that Peace is all about defense but even that doesn't really look like what we are used to
He has been terrible for 4 years. I honestly think the guy stays in the NBA based on reputation and will power. I laugh out loud when he shoots during Lakers games that I have the misfortune of watching.
Nicolas Batum would not have become the player he is this early if the Rockets kept him, especially with Adelman as coach. Blazers trusted him and gave him good minutes from the get-go. Similarly, rondo wouldn't have been this good this early if he never had a big three.
We were going all in..and he played good for us. The 08-09 season for us is seriously the most memorable one in a long time. We had a great record, we beat the Blazers and took the defending champs to 7 games, I loved everything about it..besides that last game. Show him some respect. That tough, roughneck identity that defined us is pretty much gone now.
Metta World Peace has basically become Ryan Gomes. Compare the two players numbers, and they're pretty similar... http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/25/metta-world-peace http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/2757/ryan-gomes
Yeah, once you make a name for yourself as an "All-Star" (no matter how borderline or flash-in-the-pan your selection), you can coast on reputation for years. People will still think of you as a good "second option" even if you flat out can't score anymore.
Good thing Morey didn't re-sign him. I'm glad he found a way to turn that cap space into Courtney Lee. We got a nice playoff run with Artest making that trade worth it.
Is there anyone else that agrees with me that his name change will never catch on? To me, he'll always be Ron Artest. This isn't like Chad Johnson becoming Chad Ochocinco. Many had already started calling him Ochocinco before he even officially changed his name and now I don't even think anything of it when I call him Ochocinco.
World Peace stopped playing hard because he finally got that championship Now's he's just Frucking around til his contract is up
His athleticism is now non-existent. I'm pretty convinced the average Joe is more athletic than he is at this stage of his game. That's gotta be a huge factor.
