Exactly what I was worried about. But really, now way they play worse than Was, Det, NO, Toronto, or Charlotte.
I just had this vision: 2012 lottery selection show, the Rox finished with the 6th worst record and the Knicks with the 5th worst record. Morey is sitting side by side with Dolan. Both guys are interviewed one after the other about the possibilities of winning the lottery, staying where they are at, and the possibility of the Knicks losing their pick by virtue of another team sneaking in the lottery and pushing them down past #5. The cards are opened one at a time, everything holds true to form until it gets down to the #6 selection, which should be the Rockets selection. The card is opened and it reads NEW YORK KNICKS. The place goes crazy. 5,4,3,....no Rockets card. 2......New Jersey Nets!!! Bedlam!! This is for everyone that needed a good laugh today.
I'm expecting the lottery to go: #1 - New Orleans Hornets #2 - New Orleans Hornets (from Minnesota) #3 - New Orleans Hornets (from Houston as punishment for insulting Pau Gasol trade attempt and subsequent backtalk) New Orleans sold to excited new owner the next morning for a $550M purchase price.
Funny, my vision had Daryl Morey sitting in the stands of a Rockets second-round playoff game and getting updates on his smartphone as to whether or not the Knicks won the lottery.
I definitely like that one better. For it to materialize, we have to make a blockbuster trade by the deadline. Check your messages.
Actually, I think the odds of THIS Rockets team getting the #6 or #7 seed and then winning in the first round over an overachieving Utah or Denver team is more likely than THIS Rockets team falling to the sixth worst record in the NBA. Neither is overwhelmingly likely. It's just that my vision seems more plausible on the spectrum of remotely realistic possibilities. But maybe that's just me.
I agree.....I for one was a proponent of rebuilding/tanking however in retrospect we just have too much talent on this roster to land a top 5 pick. I have switched my tone and now am rooting for them to win as many games as possible in order to attract other players as a "up and coming team"......and who knows if we do match up against the jazz or denver i think we have as good of a shot as any as beating them in the playoffs. Now all we can hope for is the Knicks to lose lose lose.
How looks now the Gasol trade now? Scola + Martin + Dragic + a top 10 2012 pick for Gasol (8 points last night)?
Actually, because Les is trying to compete all the time, the odds are much more likely that we will make a trade at the deadline and be competing for the 6th seed. My point of contention about the lottery since I posted the "I've seen enough" thread is that we are a lottery team as currently constructed. I'd like to get excited about this bunch but I just can't. I'm enjoying the winning streak but in the back of my mind, it's pushing us to #14 in the lottery. We are showing we are better than the league dregs. I'm just hoping that if we make a trade at the deadline that it is a substantial upgrade for a superstar and not rolling out Martin and Scola for younger 1-way players.
Celtics destroy the Magic, 87-56. How does a team score only 56 pts through 4 quarters? Rondo is still out. They seem to be doing well, without him though. Celtics - Magic box score: http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?id=320123002 Celtics may make the playoffs. Knicks are still the 10th seed.
Every single time the DM has made trades the Rox always came out on the winning end. Landry for Kmart, Tmac for Jhill package, Alston for Lowry, AB for Dragic etc. if we do trade Kmart and Scola I have every confidence it'll make the team better.
