You do know that Dalembert got more in his 1 year than Chuck did in any single year of his deal, right? Or that Dalembert is over 30 and was making 10+ million a year before... DD
I believe only those who are in favor of tanking are against the signing of Sam. He makes us a much better team as the big defensive presence that we've been missing for some time now. He's not that bad on the offensive side either.
Sam serves as a deterrent to those who want to drive the lane. It forces opponents to settle for more jumpers instead of coasting in for a layup. For all of Chuck's attributes, nobody is scared to drive it in on a 6'6" center. They're not really afraid of Jordan Hill either. It's something we haven't had since Yao went down. Without a legit shot blocking threat on the floor, our defense is like swiss cheese. Sam has had a greater overall impact on our defense than Chuck did because of that. He changes the way opponents play us and though Chuck was a great defender, he never was able to have that same kind of impact due to his height.
have you seen him play? He's a very effective rim defender and rebounder. Equal to Chuck. Get League pass.
Our record with Chuck last year vs our record with Sam this year indicates we are better. Cry me a river the Rockets are winning games. We are currently in contention for a playoff spot. With injuries and team problems across the NBA we are lucky to have the team we do. Tonight is a big deal, it will be a good test to see where the Rockets are at right now. I honestly haven't seen a defensive presence at Center since Hakeem's days, Yao was pretty good but I think Sam is slightly better at D, WAAAAAAAY worse on offense.
Widely reported or was it something you believed you read in an article? http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=6570068&postcount=16
Yeah it always cracks me up when CFs believe they know anything about the inner workings of the Rockets, not just DD.
This is ridiculous... everyone should regret this signing. He makes this team better, and we don't need that crap here. Tank tank tank and then tank some more. /sarcasm
Chuck Hayes is 6-6. He's an excellent defender. BUT HE DOES NOT PROTECT THE RIM. It's not taking anything away from Chuck Hayes when you say Dalembert is a better center, because... It's just the truth.
I honestly can not recall, but I have heard Bill and Clyde mention it a lot on TV as well that Les pushed for this signing. Maybe you could research it or ask Feigen.....maybe Clutch knows..... For now, widely reported is fine with me. DD
I'm crossing my fingers that he plays well enough to be thrown into the Dwight trade. Oh, and for the guys raving about Dally being a rim protector. Sure, he is. But for as good as a rim protector as he is, he is flat out terrible in Pick n Roll defense, flat out terrible. On the other hand, Chuck Hayes is the best Pick n Roll defender amongst bigs in the entire league. San Antonio, with only Tony Parker, ran a layup drill on us, mostly because of Dally's poor PnR defense. Wait until Minny gets through with us tonight. While you all are blaming Lowry for bad defense, it will mostly be Dally being out of position that is the worst problem against the PnR. Minny is going to PnR and PnP us to death tonight. And we're gonna have to send help, thereby leaving a shooter wide open. If Minny gets hot from distance, we are gonna be in big trouble. Our hope is that they play down to their level, meaning poor defense and inconsistent shooting.
Bull ****. Last game against Parker Hill and Scola were eaten alive by the P&R because they couldn't stay honest and stay close with their man. Dalembert comes in and all of a sudden Parker has no more wide open big to pass to. He didn't bite on fakes either.
