For those who think Mchale is the reason for the magical defensive improvement

Who does regret it? If there is someone who does, they obviously don't watch the Rockets.

yes it was a great signing, much more of the reason for the defensive improvement. morey did his job, i'm giving him credit.

I like watching him play and since Le$ won't allow Morey to do the right thing and tank this year, then sure, signing him was a good move.

I just don't think it helps the future of this franchise much.

It has been widely reported that Les pushed Morey to sign Dalembert.

I still credit McHale. Dalembert is good but so is Chuck Hayes.

And we are playing Parsons in Battier's spot.

And Scola is even worse defensively.

But the thing I like most is the rotations. No more playing worse players over better players.

parsons is better than battier, sam better than hayes.

if you don't see a seven footer who can block shots being a better presence than hayes defensively i feel for you as a basketball fan

No way Parsons is better on defense than Battier.

And Sam is a better shotblocker, but what about defending PnRs? Or one-on-one in the post? Help defense?

It's not clear to me that OVERALL Sam is a better defender than Chuck.

Yes, I really need the sympathy. Thank you.

Seriously, I love Sam so far, but I loved Chuck too.

Also, PatPat became a big part of Adelman's rotation last year.

He has been injured and slow to come back so far.

He played big minutes for defensive purposes last game and I expect McHale to keep giving him bigger minutes as he gets back in the groove.

you think a shot blocker isn't good on help defense.

chuck hayes has to play perfectly, dalambert has mobility to make up for his mistakes.

don't make me hate on chuck, two seperate players.

Hayes is a better high post defender because of his high defensive IQ and his body frame and Sammy is a better low defender because he can alter shots. What if we had both of them on the court at the same time?

Yes, so much talking about MaHale who will be a bad coach on this board, but former coach, Rick will play Case at starting SF position instead of Parsons, Hills would still be a starting center for the team because he is doing well in the practice, and Dalembert is not.

I agree with that but there is more to defense than shot blocking.

There's a reason Chuck got a multi-year contract worth over $20 million while Dalembert got only one year guaranteed.

The original plan was for us to get Gasol, Nene, and bring back Chuck.

Not hating on The Bert, he has been awesome, but just sayin'

I'm sure even off a PnR a guy is going to rather run into Hayes than the Bear.

Hayes is an elite one-on-one and roaming defender but unfortunately he can't provide paint protection, something Dalembert provides. As a center, defensively Dalembert is so much better than Hayes it isn't even funny. Ideally you'd have two of them together and you'd have the best defensive front court since KG/Perkins.
