We are only half a game behind No. 1. Let's add more wins to claim the spot. http://www.nba.com/standings/team_record_comparison/conferenceNew_Std_Div.html
with dirk, manu, and zbo out... if we can't capitalize during this time with our marshmellow schedule we don't deserve to be in playoffs
Only 16 games in the season. My advice to the Rockets (like they are listening to me) is to not pay attention to the standings, especially in the SW, and just beat the teams your supposed to beat and win some of the games that your not supposed to. They still have no margin for error. #3 through 8th seeds will be separated by about 4 or 5 games max in the West when its all said and done.
I have to agree with the bold .... Their margin for error is 0. So many good teams in the West .... They have taken care of those they should win so far and won a few I didnt think they would , SA twice and Portland. If they can keep that up , they have a chance , however small it is.
16 games into the season is more like 20 games into a season in any other normal year. So they need to put together a good run here and they would be easily sitting pretty high in the playoff rankings for the rest of the year.
this will assure mediocrity for yet another season. then after that we will get the 14th pick in the draft for the third straight season. is that what you want? again?
You're kidding about the Clippers right? Their results are nothing shy of exceptional. They haven't made the playoffs in YEARS, and were awful last year. If they make the playoffs they would consider those results "exceptional" - let alone finish higher than 5-6! [yes, they acquired Paul, and yes, it is actually making a difference. But that's not always a lock!]
There is nothing mediocre about being a playoff team in the West. In the second round of the playoffs last year, were the Grizzlies considered mediocre? This team is basically in the same position as 6 or the top 10 teams in the West. Do the Rockets need to upgrade the roster to be in the top 3 or 4 in the West? Yes. It is much more achievable for this team ,who currently could go as high as the 4th seed in the West, to upgrade from within or through trade then to strip everything down, kick the ball out of bounds, and pray for a top 3 pick. There are no guarantees that Anthony Davis or Andre Drummond will turn up any better NBA than Michael Olawakandi, Hasheem Thabeet, or Greg Oden. Even if they trade Scola and Martin(who they are obviously open to trading), whose to say this team's record doesn't actually get better? I agree that trading away your vets to rebuild with youth and draft picks are a way to get better over time. But you dont realize that the Rockets actually have one of the youngest teams in the NBA even with Scola/Martin/ and Dalembert on the roster, and two of those three guys are on the trading block. I dont think the pro-tanking Rockets fans really know what the hell they want, they just feel like b****ing about something. This team is already going through a youth movement. So NO I dont want the 14th pick in the draft, I want Lowry to become a top 3 PG in the league, Montiejunas to be the next Pau Gasol, Dalembert to have a Tyson Chandler like NBA rebirth, McHale to be the next Doc Rivers, and players light Dwight Howard request to be traded to the Rockets because they want to play with a top PG in Lowry.
We need to call Bud Selig and see if he can pull some strings and get us moved to the Eastern Conference.
The question is whether Utah and Denver are one of those teams we should beat because they are beating a lot of teams coming into the year I would think they would have trouble with. If Utah and Denver cool down, we have a margin for error, but while they are playing well why do we have a margin for error with Dallas and Portland sitting right there with us? Please bro, Rockets need to win every day right now. There's not telling when Minnesota and Dallas will turn it on and push us.
I'd rather stay in the West to be honest. Seems as if the East is really easy to get into, but they have more power house teams. Chicago, Miami, NY, even Boston if they don't blow it up. As far as the West goes, once we make it to the playoffs, we have a fair shot at making it to the WCF. There are many good teams, but not on the level or CHI or MIA. I think OKC is the only team that we have no shot of beating in a 7 game series.
I'm sorry, but I fail to see how a team with 2 superstars on the team can be this terrible all year long. I think they'd snap out of it but Amare and Melo will be a tough match-up in the playoffs for a team like us.
