Is anybody wondering if Melo is trying to force a trade or firing?

I simply can't buy that D'Antoni is such a bad coach that the only thing he draws up is iso plays for Melo. I just can't buy that. I also can't buy that Melo is so stupid as to keep firing up 27 footers while being double teamed.

    Something is not adding up.

I am beginning to think Melo is either trying to force a trade of either:
    1. Himself to the Nets or Lakers
    or
    2. Amare to NJ for Deron or Amare and Chandler to Orlando for Dwight.

    or

Melo is trying to get D'Antoni fired.

    Nothing else makes sense.

Amar'e's only shot in the 4th quarter and OT was a desperation 3 which he of course swished. He barely got to touch the ball all game

    The Knicks are ridiculous.

Melo is trying but failing. He certainly doesn't want to go anywhere else.

I do think he wants D'Antoni replaced.

I don't know that Melo has a specific coach in mind. D'Antoni and him don't seem to connect with each other. It's a vague memory now, but last season there were things I read and some statements made that indicated a rift.

Just think about it: Melo and George Karl had their serious issues, but nobody (sane) can say Karl doesn't know his stuff very well. He's a basketball encyclopedia. Going from a thorough, knowledgeable, premiere coach like George Karl to an amateur like D'Antoni had to be a big letdown for Melo.

I've had the experience of switching from a boss I respected a lot to another that knew less than I did. It was tough.

If PJ still has enough left in the tank, he would solve that problem and give Melo and the Knicks a direction they could believe in. But IMO, PJ is done.

    these pseudo stars are fail.
they have these ridiculous salaries (amare + melo + chandler) taking like 90% of the cap space because they feel like they "deserve" max contracts and then when the team cannot surround them with a good team, let alone a solid bench because of salary restrictions, they whine about not having a good enough team around them.

if you're getting paid like a superstar, lead your team to wins. otherwise, shut up and don't feel entitled to a bloated contract that kills cap space for your team to surround you with decent players to help you win.

    end rant.

Even if PJ had enough left in the tank, I doubt he would go anywhere near a Carmelo led team.

He is an opportunist, not a therapist.

Most perfect description of phil jackson I have ever read.

As soon as jackson can find another super team to gravy off of we won't be seeing him anytime soon.

Melo would be gold in the triangle but Amare is alergic to posting up and Phil ain't coming back to coach them.

The best thing to happen to that team would be an Amare trade for some decent role players and a coach that will run an offense that gives Melo the ball in the post where he can use his strength and quickness to go to work. Watching those guys try to handle the ball out past the three point line is sad.

those 3 are being paid the same (or from the top of my head slightly more) than James, Wade and Bosh.

Of course there's something stupid going on.

I think it goes both ways. D'Antoni went from having an unselfish, hard-defending/3 point shooting combo in Gallinari/Wilson Chandler to a selfish ballhog like Melo with no decent 3 pt shot to speak off.

With Melo, I guess sucking it up worked well in Denver so he's doing the same in hopes that NYC will do something. I like it, more losses for them now before the inevitable firing happens means a higher pick for us. Hopefully when the change does happen NY has dug a hole so deep they won't be able to make the playoffs.

Yeah, because talented teams win by themselves. I mean PJ didn't do anything but sit on the bench and watch MJ and Pippen get 6 rings, right? And then he just collected fat paychecks and watch Kobe and Shaq, then Kobe and Pau get to work.

That's why Spoelstra is the new gravy moocher, he just sat on his ass and watched Wade, LBJ and Bosh win a ring...oops that didn't happen.

I hate it when posters talk about PJ like he was just there doing nothing. He's never had an established team to work with. In Chicago he got Mj and Pippen while they were young, and same thing with Kobe and Shaq. Part of the reasons those players became so good is because PJ was the one coaching them. Those teams were stacked, but they also played against really good teams like Bad boy Pistons, RA-led Kings, Spurs and of course KG-Celtics. PJ's one of the best coaches ever. 10 rings across different teams don't lie.

Melo needs a set up man to be successful, history has proven it

    Melo with Iverson..not much

Melo with Billups.. instant force in the west, western conference finals

he's at this best as a scorer, if he doesn't take shots hes not as threatening. Hes testing out the wrist and hes not getting it done right now. Might as well rest

All they need now is Isiah to come back in the picture somehow and just burn the Knicks to the ground. Will Isiah be the next Knicks coach?
