Absurd interpretation of history. Notice how wingnuts are all for American exceptionalism except when they are not? When it comes to slavery, hey, we were just like those other countries that got rid of slavery peacefully. Nothing different about us. As for the other points, of course it was about slavery... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=6567883&postcount=63
This is the course of events I vaguely remember: you were an ass to me, I returned the favor. You flipped out and wanted to fight me, reported tons of my posts and managed to have nothing done because it was not warranted. I goaded you on, pointed, and laughed. If you are in fact bipolar, shouldn't you come to grips with the fact you may have brought whatever wrongdoing you perceive I did to you onto yourself? I have plenty of experience with bipolar disorder and know people with it sometimes flip out and go completely batcrap crazy over innocuous actions of others. I find it laughable that me responding to your insults and trolling with insults and trolling means I have no compassion for the mentally ill. You seem to be suggesting the onus is on me to know the medical history of every ******* on the internet. You are also still responsible for your own actions. Don't act persecuted when someone gives it back to you.
Yes he has. And if newt became president, he wouldn't **** america....he'd just let her die of cancer and not care.
This is the issue that Obama should not run from. In the GOP's version of America, we are all just one catastrophic tragedy from economic ruin.
I may be confused by what you mean by your post, but Lincoln was a Republican, it was the Democrats who supported slavery.
Content aside, you have no problems with the President of the United States giving a speech in front of a giant Confederate flag?
Don't mean to quibble, but they're very explicitly, policy by policy, more like this fantasy future: 99% of us are one relatively minor tragedy or job loss away from economic ruin. The other 1% are assured to never face a tragedy that really impacts them economically, even if the nation collapses. What lofty goals.
I don't think this means Ron Paul is disloyal but I don't think he has really thought through the implications of appearing in front of the Confederate Flag. Not having seen the whole speech or knowing the context of why he was giving the speech the most I can gather is he is giving a historical speech and the Confederate flag is there as a historical relic. It's not the smartest PR move but without knowing more I am not going to presume this means he is actually longing for the secession. As for the speech Paul is right on the facts but wrong on the substance. He is correct that the state reasons for the Confederacy to secede was states rights but almost totally overlooks that states rights was an issue primarily because of slavery. He is also correct that trade and banking were also issues but again slavery was the dominant issue.
My prediction for today is Newt by 12. Within a few days, he'll have a kneejerk lead in Florida, though predicting out 10 days is way too long in this race, so I have no idea if he can sustain it. Santorum will be out in a week and will endorse Newt.
WOW! That's pretty bold. I'm thinking Romney squeaks it out by 2 or 3%. But would not be surprised by your prediction.
Newt is surging and is ahead in all of the recent polls. I don't think the question is if Newt wins, but how much he wins by...
I think 12 is too much, but Newt has a very good chance to take SC. "Kneejerk" is just the right word because the Newtsurge is not sustainable and he won't win FL.

Obama should run on this platform: If Mitt Romney gets elected - the deficit will sore from more Bush style tax cuts, and he will once again free the banks to take massive risks and put the financial system at risk. We've already seen what one reckless cut-taxes-for-the-rich President did to our economy. Do you really want a second helping after we are just starting to dig ourselves out of the blizzard? The fact that Mitt only paid 15% on his taxes while the middle class pays more will be huge. Can you imagine this question: Ask yourself, how does it feel to know that Mitt Romney, one of the richest men in America, gets a lower tax rate than you?
I've been leaning toward Romney, but Newt may be the better answer. Romney's vacillation and indecision is worrisome whereas Newt can give Obama oratorical fits. Of course, I am still hoping for a miracle at the convention.
thumbs - who would your ideal candidate be if you could pick anyone? I think a convention would be great fun, but from what I understand of how delegates will be apportioned in later primaries, it's highly unlikely even with Ron Paul getting 15-20% of the vote. He would probably need to outright win several states to make it a possibility.
