I am perfectly ok with driver's lining the state's coffers with fines due to their poor driving habits so I dont have to pay state income tax.
Quite frankly, some of the responses in here are downright scary. Some of you should not be driving. Driving 60 is just as dangerous as driving 90? Hello! Reaction time?!?!? Force of impact?!! Drivers doing the speed limit or under and not going 75 like others are the dangerous ones? Hey I want to do 80, should do 80 too and if you don't, it's your fault if I hit you! LOL!!
That's a fallacious argument known as slippery slope. With that logic nothing should be illegal because everything should be able to kill you. That's philosophical, let me throw some math and physics your way. As your speed increases the distance to slow down grows greatly. It isn't a linear relationship, but for fun let's assume it is. That means as you speed your stopping time is also prolonged, so to stop a car going 90 mph vs. 60 mph takes a lot longer. Statistically speaking this means you have a much higher probability to not only react but to also initiate stopping and actually stop at 60 mph vs 90 mph. Let's quantify this ish for you. To stop a car going 60 mph you need a distance of 384 or roughly 5.4 secs (that's assuming a 2 sec reaction time). Now, to stop a car going 90 mph it will take 584 ft or about 8.6 secs. Realistically, you would have a much higher probability of survival if you have almost twice as much room to stop and almost twice as much time. So yes, while you can die from a 60 mph wreck, statistically speaking you give yourself a much higher survival probability by not speeding. It's why you wear a seat belt, its why you don't drink and drive, it's why you drive with your lights on, you are doing all this things to increase the statistical probability of survival.
I think that's supposed to be a statement on the idea that he obviously doesn't give a **** about the welfare of other people around him, so why should he get the same courtesy. I can understand the point trying to be made. Spoiler but yeah, 'i hope you die' is a little overboard
Did the same on 290 between Cypress and Brenham, pretty long stretch there with no swerves and very little cars if you go at the right time.
Like i said, speeding is the assist, the crash is what kills. **** happens. Speeding isn't black and white. Too many gray areas. Besides, who are we to say someone shouldn't go as fast as they are going? Do we know the place they are trying to get to? And soeaking of seatbelts, that shouldn't be a law either. If someone doesn't want to wear a seatbelt, then don't make them. If they fly through their window, then that's their fault.
