I remember being so excited that draft night after we pulled off that trade. Who knew that Richard Jefferson would be the real prize of that trade. Griffin had all of the talent in the world and a two cent head.

So Bima, you think two mid-rounders (say #13 and #14) and say ...Bud (or perahps a little better ...say courtney lee) can get you #7 in this year's draft?

Yeah, Eddie Griffin had "#1 overall pick" talent. If you could have put, say, Chuck Hayes's head and heart into Eddie Griffin's body, you would have had yourself a bona fide SUPERSTAR.

On trading up, I have no clue. So much will be decided by who enters the draft, who pulls out and what individual teams think of the various top prospects.

One note: The Rockets CANNOT trade Courtney Lee to move up in the draft. He'll be a restricted free agent once the season ends, so he cannot be traded on draft night or leading up to the draft.

I remember some people flipped out on that trade, but when you look at it the number of picks given up for Eddie was pretty close to fair value.

Maybe Scola, #13, and #14 for a #5ish pick? Sacramento is in the 5 spot now and they love trading with us....eh...why not?

Thank you for the interesting article. I thought Melo was the problem, until reading the story.

I do have a minor quibble with the author, though. He did not explain the drop in Amare's scoring in 2008 though. The offense was changed and Nash was starting to decline that year. After he went to NY, the scoring efficiency without Nash was hidden by leap in FG attempts. It was easy for Amare to look like an All-star, when Nash was setting up all his shots. He is just an overrated 2nd tier star like Marion that benefited from Nash's elite court vision. It is an unpopular opinion and I have taken a lot of heat for it in clutchfans and realgm forums.

I don't see us trading Lee until we are out of the Dwight/Deron sweepstakes.

If your looking at the players on the team now, and who is most contributing to their losing record, yes, you could say Melo isnt the problem.

But Melo created the problem by forcing a trade during the season rather than simply becoming a FA after the season. NY was forced to give up too much and the trade is a huge contributing factor for their chemistry issues and thin bench NOW.

    HUGE GAME TONIGHT!! :p

The Bucks are at the Knicks tonight. A Bucks win would put them a half game back of the Knicks. If the Celts win and the Knicks lose tonight then the Knicks are in the #9 seed.

Bucks are +4.5 for those betting at home

I am at MSG now. If the team loses to the Bucks, I think the fans are going to riot and D'Antoni will be tarred and feathered.

The Bucks come into this one 0-8 on the road. NY may have to get inventive in finding a way to lose this one.

I get more pleasure watching the Knicks lose than the Rockets win these days.

A nailbiter victory against a scrub team just makes me that much more equivocal about what exactly it is we're trying to do with this franchise. A loss by a rival whose pick we own is an unquestioned good, akin to curing a child of cancer.

Those numbers are deceptive. Bogut has missed 5 away games, all loses. 4 of those games where when he went back to Australia.

Jennings likes to remind the Knicks that they should of drafted him instead of the "bad rookie"

They lost the freaking raptors at home. When there's (not) a will, there's a way!

The Bucks are 4-4 with Bogut. They will be 5-4 after tonight. They aren't as bad as their record indicates.

Wow Knicks getting hosed by the Bucs right now. LOL

2 points in the quarter? haahahaa

Are they ever gonna play an away game? When is the last time they even played a .500 team? Their schedule has got to be brutal at some point.
