Stating the obvious here but......the Astros are going to be bad for a long time. Our gm is terrible. How long of a pass does he get because he built the Phillies into champs?
This is a non-guaranteed deal for $600K which I think is the new MLB minimum salary. Essentially the Astros are giving up nothing of any importance to have Cust on the roster. He'll probably get a handful of plate appearances and if he looks like he's rebounding he'll get a chance to play and increase his trade value then get shipped off to a contender at the deadline for an okay prospect or two. If he sucks they'll just let him go. No risk move with a possibility of a small reward... I didn't like it at first but now that I've seen the details I think it's fine.

Non-guaranteed makes me happier. Craig Tatum was the 40-man casualty for the signing. We can just cut bait with Cust in spring training if need be.
