Damn, I'm not a Texans fan but Jake Delhomme might have been one of the worst perfoming QBs over the last few years. He got run out of Carolina, and was downright horrible in Cleveland. The fact that he was sitting on the couch until week 14 or so should tell you how bad he sucks.
This is so remarakable, I'm going to repeat it and hopefully end this thread. In his final 16 starts prior to coming here, a stretch that included a playoff game, Delhomme threw 11 TDs and 28 INTs. Let me repeat: 11 TDs; 28 INTs over 16 starts, which is a full NFL season. Anyone clamoring for that guy to see significant playing time, or who thought he'd be a better choice than TJ Yates is, well, wrong. 11/28, people.
you shut your mouth with your facts! TJ was the only way to go in that game. And you certainly dont panic and jump ship in the middle of the game. Although I do think the texans would have won the game if Delhomme did start...at punt returner. He would have been smart enough to get not try to catch it off the bounce.
Don't forget the 7 fumbles lost in his last 17 games. Horrible. That's a total of 32 turnovers in 17 games.
He was at the helm of a mediocre offense. Delhomme would have had a shot with Foster and AJ. I guess we'll never know. What we do know is that Yates was garbage against the Ravens. We could have won with an average showing.
His last year in Carolina, an 8/18 TD/INT season, featured two 1,000-yard rushers (not guys who had, at one point, rushed for a 1,000 yards - they both totaled 1,000 *that* year) and Steve Smith plus a still-viable Mushin Muhammad. If it was mediocre, it was because of him.
Last playoff games Delhomme (2008): 17/34 for 205 yards, 50% completion 6.03 avg 1 TD 5 INT Yates (2011): 17/35 for 184 yards, 48.6% completion 5.26 avg 0 TD 3 INT I'm honestly surprised more people wanted Delhomme after he played okay against a garbage Titans team. 37 yr old Delhomme would've gotten mauled by the Ravens imo.
I dont think Yates lost the game, I blame Jacoby for that fumble, look we were leading, and instead of forcing the ball with Yates, Foster would've keep running the ball. Look Joe Flacco numbers, were bad, and the first TD, was a bad throw, he was lucky that the Ravens player was so open. Flacco didnt have to throw a lot because after the Jacoby fumble, they were leading all the game.
