http://www.nba.com/rookie-ladder/ if you were to kindly check the rookie ladder you would see Parsons just broke the top ten. He can only go up from here and do you think he has a chance to make it to Orlando????
He's top 10 in minutes per game and games started. He leads all rookies in rebounds/game. For the advanced stats folks, he's also top 10 in win shares and PER. I think he's absolutely deserving. More importantly, can Patterson turn things around to where he's also playing in that game? I really hope so.
I think the fact that he's 6'10" is going to really help his chances. Roster is 9 deep, I believe, and they usually take 3 or 4 "big men". So he's fighting with Tristan Thompson, Derrick Williams, Markieff Morris, Jon Leuer and ... who else? All the international bigs are getting 10 minutes or less per game, and I'm confident he overtakes Leuer based on minutes played and highlight reel tip slams.
Not so interesting fact. This year will be the 3rd consecutive year someone from the 2009 draft playing for the Rookie. Unless Rubio injured himself before the game. Just wondering, if Rubio win the ROY this year, is this the first time 3 players from the same draft win it?
I think Williams is a lock based on name alone. Parsons should definitely have a spot on the roster though.
Parsons is 4th on David Thorpe's weekly Rookie Watch list (look for updates each Friday): http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/stor...sota-timberwolves-ricky-rubio-proving-belongs [rquoter] 4. Chandler Parsons, Rockets Parsons doesn't have the gaudy stats like some of the rookies ranked below him, but he's been a big reason Houston has won five straight games and gotten back into the playoff race. On a team with three top scorers, Parsons plays his role as a defensive force, rebounder and ball mover to near perfection for a rookie. Among starting small forwards, he ranks tied for third in the NBA in defensive rebound rate behind Marvin Williams and LeBron James. He's even better on the offensive glass, second among all small forwards behind Shawn Marion. Wow. [/rquoter] In case you're wondering, here's his top 10: [rquoter] Rank Player Stock 1 Ricky Rubio 2 Kyrie Irving 3 MarShon Brooks 4 Chandler Parsons 5 Kemba Walker 6 Kahwi Leonard 7 Jon Leuer 8 Iman Shumpert 9 Markieff Morris 10 Tristan Thompson [/rquoter]
Neither Parsons or Patterson got chosen. Rookies: Irving, Rubio, Brooks, Knight, Leonard, Morris, T. Thompson, Walker, D. Williams Sophomores: Griffin, Cousins, Fields, George, Hayward, Monroe, Splitter, E. Turner, Wall http://www.nba.com/2012/allstar/2012/02/08/shooting-stars-roster-pool/index.html
That Sophomore front line is ridiculous ... Griffin, Monroe and Cousins.... Sophomore's are going to annihilate the rookies..
The teams are mixed this team around. Barkley and Shaq are in charge of their own teams and they're going to draft from that entire pool.
