Reading the justifications excessive speeders use here is kinda fascinating. I've always wondered what goes on in their heads.
F = ma How great a force your ------- makes smashing into the center divider is the question. The mass of your car is a constant. Only thing left is how fast you're going to begin with, how quickly you (your teeth, neck vertebrae, heart valves, cerebrospinal fluid, and the exceedingly fragile rest of you) and your car decelerate into the concrete. I would advise some books on tape of basic physics lectures, but clearly, for my sake, you need to be paying attention to the road. And to the OP, yes, it seems weird that you got two tickets, instead of one. I think the law used to be that if you're going thirty over, they had the right to physically arrest/detain you; so things could be worse.
Sure, maybe my statement was wrong and uncalled for. However, there's no denying that anyone out there driving that fast is not only a risk to themselves, but society as well. What should be more of a cause for concern are people on here who think other are p*****s for driving normally, or the excuses being put out there.
Actually it's up to the officers discretion. If he feels you're a danger to the public or yourself you'll be arrested on the spot, car will be towed and impounded. How do I know? A friend of mine got locked up for doing 70 in a 40. I picked him up from jail when he was released. Only a misdemeanor but a major hit to his wallet and a painful ordeal.
I'll bet. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZO7-QJGVdM4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
In Texas, you cannot be arrested for speeding unless other charges accompany it but I believe if you go 30 over the speed limit you can't take defensive driving anymore and must see a judge.
I got stopped by a lady cop in my automobile. She said get out and spead your legs and then she tried to cop a feel. That cop, she was all dressed in blue. Was she pretty? Boy I'm telling you. She stuck my butt with her big black stick. I said "what's up? Now suck my dick." Like a ram getting ready to jam the lamb, she whimpered just a little when she felt my hand. On her crotch so very warm, I could feel her getting wet through her uniform. Propping her up on the black and white, unzipped and slipped, ooo that's tight. I swatted her like no swat team can. Turned a cherry pie right into jam.
Lol, going 90 is being way overblown here. I dont go over 80 bc I have this weird feeling that my wheels will fall off the car, but I take the west park tollway to work every day and I see cars going 90 all the time. Should be getting 1 ticket instead of 2...but the OP needs to slow it down a bit.
But you can crash at any speed above 50 and die. It's not the speeding that kills. It'll assist, but you crashing into the center concrete barrier is the cause. And for the record, in not one of the cars going 90. Hardly ever reach that speed. I was the one swarmed by the pack going 90 plus in my way to Beaumont once. I wish more people would pay attention while driving. Maybe then they can see the traffic congestion they are causing behind them.
If I have to choose who dies between the ******* going 90+ or an innocent person just trying to get to and from work or wherever they're going, I'm going with the former. Having them off the road would certainly make it safer for the rest of us.
I pushed my car to 100 out of curiosity a couple of times on the way to Austin on 290 on a Saturday morning with absolutely no cars before but I would never drive that fast in town. I rarely go over 80. There's just no reason to in Houston besides being a huge douchetard. Any time someone zooms me by when I'm going like 75 on the Beltway, I wish they get pulled over.
On that same note, the higher the speed, the higher the force of impact. There's a more likely chance that someone will be killed or seriously injured due to the force of impact and the amount of friction it takes to put the car to a complete stop, increasing risk of life threatening injuries. Sure, you could run into a pole that impales you and you die at 10mph, but going at 90mph makes it more likely; therefore, it is the speed that kills. Anything that increases the chances of life threatening incidents on the road "kills." Paying attention is one thing, but decreasing the time to react to situations makes it just as bad. That's why pitchers in baseball that throws 98mph are hard to hit. There's less time to react. If you can't react, you might as well be half asleep. There are MANY factors that makes driving dangerous; speed, however, you could control. Although MOST drivers will go over the limit, going 30+ over the limit is no excuse. As much as it stinks to drive behind people who are going slowly, it's even worse to put those people in a state of panic as well.
You failed high school physics didn't you? This is so wrong it hurts my soul. Sit down and calculate the negative acceleration need to take a vehicle from 90 to 0 mph in a matter of 2 secs. Then, do the same for 10 mph to 0 mph. Then using everyone's favorite equation F=ma solve for force in both cases. Convert vehicle weight from 2 tons to mass using a unit converter. You will have orders of magnitude of difference between the two. This is what is wrong with this country. We let you drive a car with almost absolutely no physics knowledge.
That example was if you were an pedestrian. But please, don't try to tell me you can't get killed going the speed limit on the freeway. People acting like its the end of the world if someone goes 90, is what's puzzling to me. You might have more time to react going 60, but some dumbass can still merge into your lane and clip you and that be the end of you...
I've done the same on open stretches out in west texas where no one is around...like haven't seen a car in 15 minutes no where. once you get near 100 the car does behave differently and can be dangerous (it was a 545i, btw, for the people trying to use the excuse that it's no big deal in a nice car). But, going 90 plus anywhere near/around the city with other people around is just stupid. agreed. People's poor rationale never ceases to amaze me.
About 12 years ago I got a ticket going 123mph in a 55 while drinking. Yeah I know. Have not got a ticket since then.
