I normally stay at MGM, but got re-routed to Monte Carlo in October. I have to say it is fantastic since its renovation. It was the least smoky casino on the strip. The Mexican place El Diablo is killer and has a great view of the strip. I'm headed back for Super Bowl

Well the $30 buffets were mentioned as places you should avoid, Luxor has a buffet under $20. If this helps at all

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8jcORf7Hdg

He reaches the Riv at about the :50 mark, judge by how fast he's driving and the fact that the video is sped up, look how long it's going to take you to walk that. Over 2 minutes in (it doesn't seem much, but just look at all he's passed) he hasn't reached PH, Bellagio, Aria, MGM, Luxor, Excalibur, Tropicana, Paris, Ballys, NYNY, Monte Carlo, Mandalay Bay yet. The Sahara is closed and you want to avoid Circus Circus, I assume because you're staying at the Riv you don't want to spend $$$ on the ride once you get there.

Every resort has parking and it's free, what I did my second time when I stayed at the Stratosphere was drive to Wynn or Treasure Island, park there, walk the strip, still a few miles, and then come back to my car. Also, driving the strip at night is an experience in itself as you can see from the video, that alone is worth a little bit. Of course if you plan on getting yourself messed up most of your stay, taxi is the safer bet, but costs wise there is no comparison. Plus you can visit downtown Vegas (Golden Nugget, Binions) Or head to a big off strip resort if you're inclined (Rio, Palms, Hardrock)

Back to eating, there's a Stations Casino right off the strip, I think it's called The Plaza??? Stations' buffets are incredibly cheap, ate at one this last year, I think it was $8.99 or some **** for lunch.

Hopefully the video helps, Caesars isn't even north strip. Riv is way way north.

If it's for 6 nights, then it's worth it. IP is a ****hole, but it's a well located ****hole. Avoid the motel type rooms at all costs. It's close to Caesar's and also close to Venetian...two touristy places for Vegas newcomers. You should try to get a room upgrade at the IP. Since you're on a budget, greasing the desk person with a $20 might not be the way to go (though it works). What you could do is once you get your room, complain that something is making you itchy...that you need a different room because your allergies are acting up or something.

Mandalay is the most South Strip major hotel casino. It's a 5 star property (imo...minimum 4 stars) with 2 star location, so you get some pretty decent value there per square foot relative to other nice properties. They have what many consider the best Spa in Vegas...and it's open the latest iirc. So plenty of hot chicks love the spa...and it's CO-ED.

Don't stay at the Rivera, if you can afford that for 6 nights. I would cut off a night and move to the middle of the strip somewhere, or a cheap hotel right behind the main strip.

Be in a hotel where you won't ever need a car, be in walking distance to everything.

If you get to far from your hotel, walk back or taxi back.

Last time I went, I stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacation for a couple nights and on those nights, we taxi into the strip. The other nights were at the Monte Carlo... it was much better, being in walking distance should be priority #1.

just got back from CES- we stay at the Platinum Hotel, just off the strip, across the street from the Westin. it's quiet, the rooms are nice, and huge, suites really, with balconies, and pretty reasonably priced. you can walk to the strip, or to the monorail easily enough, and you have a kitchen so you can cook breakfast, make coffee, etc.

For dinner, I did Valentino's in the Venetian the first night, Prime @ Bellagio the next, Okada @ Wynn, and Estatoria Milos the last night. all were fantastic, but none are what you'd call cheap, or even inexpensive.

Some updates. I've hit a string of bad luck since booking my flight to vegas. The mourning after booking, I cracked my neck in the mourning like I usually do and I guess I did it too hard, it sounded weird and my back started hurted. 2 weeks later and about 200 bucks lighter going to the doctor, it finally feels like its back to normal. Turns out I moved one of my neck bone from the left to the right. And the money I wanted to save up to see some shows I had to use to change my hottel room from the Rivera to the emiperal palace. So now I have about 2 months to save up for the shows and money to gamble and eat.

What shows do you guys recommend going to. I really wanted to check out the blue man group but there is no way I'm gonna pay 100 something bucks to watch some dudes bang on plastic buckets. I wanted to see at least 3 shows while I'm there. I was thinking, carrot top show, Crazy girls, and I'm split between the V show or the hunted tour.

I know there is a thread like this but this is my thread so I'm gonna bump it. Here are some updates. I am actually going to vegas soon in a couple of days. Two weeks ago I was one number away from 200 mill. That being said I won 10,000, but I had to split it, and before that I was saving up for the trip anyways. I'm not gonna try to even mess with my winnings. Planning on going there with 1600 cash, most of it I saved up before my winnings. I staying there for about 5 nights. And my plan is to gamble just 100 bucks a night. If I win thats great but if I lose it all then I'll stop for the night.
The shows I'm planning on going are Carrot Top and Show girls. I'm only going to show girls because that have the buy two for 75 bucks. The other one is a hunted vegas tour. Its gonna be like 50 degrees at night so thats cool. And the other one I thinking about going to is Dancing with the stars. I would love to go and see the blue man group but Tia Carrere was my dream girl growing up and she'll be there in the dancing with thee stars show.
Still don't know where to eat where its a bang for your buck and filling.
I still want to find a hooker. I've been researching hoes on backpages.com and I had my top 5, but with just a basic search on the site, I find out that they are fakes or what not. MY goal is try to bang 3 girls while I'm there. But I'm not going to spend 500 bucks on a hoe. But this is my first pick. [IMG] Her pics seem legit. Most of them on there just steal pics from like p*rn stars. It can still be a bait and switch but we'll see. Give me all the tips abut food and hookers guys. I mean it. Once I get there I'll use this thread as a blog and keep you posted if enough people help me about tips about looking for hookers on the strip.

    Tip 1: Don't gamble.
On the 100% chance you do: Don't play the slots, and stay away from any table that dispenses cards from a machine. Stay away from all machines in general.

Tip 2: Don't hook up with a prostitute. Think of how many men were inside her just that day.
On the 99% chance you do: Don't drink or do any drugs beforehand.

Tip 3: Don't drink or smoke at the casinos. It's free for a reason.
On the 90% chance you do: Leave all your credit cards at home. Bring only what you are okay with spending. If you are not okay with maxing out your credit cards then do not bring them. Save a couple hundred dollars or bring one credit card in case of an emergency to use on the last day to get home.

To sum it all up, don't go to Vegas. I can do all that crap in Houston if I wanted to.

#1) If you have $1600 CASH I know for a fact you're NOT going to quit after you lose your first $100 bucks.

#2) Why would you pay for a hooker when you can get free tail? There's DTF girls everywhere in Vegas.

#3) Unless you're a super fat ass and already out of shape don't hit up the buffet (as tempting as it may be) until the last day.

    #4) Hit up Wet Republic.

    #5) Rubbers.

Forget what I said.... I thought the post I replied back to you on was weird but I just re-read the thread from page 1 and realized again you're going to Vegas. ALONE. And now it makes sense.

I'm not going to lie, that hooker is smoking hot.

Anyways, I went to Vegas once with my parents just after I turned 21. We got completely trashed the first night, and then the next 2 days were basically all walking around, riding the bus, and seeing the different places on the strip. I enjoyed it, but I can't even begin to imagine how crazy it would get if I went by myself. It would be pretty overwhelming.
