Ok so I was speeding and got a ticket for that speed as obviously I broke the law. But two tickets?? And you get arrested if you're going over 100 in Texas. It was on I-10.
Depends on how far away you are when you see that traffic is going. You just have to he paying attention. Not too hard. And no, you can be in a car and have another hit you going ten or twenty, and it can still take your life. Just takes the right jerk and right spot...
So since it is possible that a car going a slower speed can kill you, it makes it ok to go damn near 100? Does that really make sense to you? Are you going to sit there and say there is no difference when it comes to accidents, the possibility of an accident or how drastic that accident can be with relation to speed?
Have you ever considered that while you may be paying attention, and doing the right things, some idiot driver may not?
No, what I'm saying is speed is not what kills. Negligence while driving is what kills. If you crash going 50, 60, 70, etc., it can still end your life.
What happens when you have a tire blow out on you at 94mph? Also worth considering, a mechanical failure like that is more likely to happen when you're going 94 than it is when you're going 60.
No matter what speed you go, your reaction time is going to be the same. So, when you're going 90+ you have less of a chance to react, because everything happens that much faster. That is why speed kills. I don't think anyone will argue with you that you can die going 60mph, but at least you have that extra split second to make the right decision.
As a man of logic, i gotta say what a bunch of p*****s in this thread. So the OP went 95 on the highway. I don't know his exact location/traffic situation at the time, so I can't say whether or not he was stupid. But if he was, for example, on I-10 driving a stretch with no cars or lights or anything and he was driving a decent performance car then I see nothing wrong (yes, I know speeding is illegal) or unsafe about what he did. Im sure in the 1950s 65 mph probably sounded crazy fast, but cars and roads are improved now, People saying he should die... hahahaha so funny
If you were in a neighborhood or some small road that's crazy. But on an Interstate? It's illegal but I think people are making a bigger deal of it than it is. When the speed limit was 55 going 75 seemed totally wreckless. Now they're upping the speed limit to 75. It's a new era with new technology and better roads, etc. If it's a long stretch of the freeway with no cars in front of me, I get up there easily.
No reason why it wouldn't or shouldn't be. Speeding right after getting a ticket is just a big ol' bowl o' stupid.
But not as stupid as misreading the post. But driving that fast should merit you as many tickets as possible; you certainly endangered people in both areas.
The argument is that car crashes at 30mph can kill. But car crashes at 90mph are probably a lot more dangerous because more cars are likely to get caught in the aftermath. Standard speeding rules apply. You can't blame anyone but yourself for getting caught. Drive at 90, you also gotta spot the cops at 90. Or maybe get a radar if you drive that fast that often.
I think 93 is excessive but it's dependent on when and where it was. A capable car on a relatively empty highway can take 93 easy and safely. I'd rather see that than a dip**** going 50 in the left. You deserve the ticket but not the guys telling you to die, that's r****ded.
This post is a microcosm of how much the board has changed in the last 7 years I've been on here. Why do people feel the need to be so douchey and make this bbs into spurstalk.
