said nothing until it became obviously tilted in public opinion now said it needs revision. Not saying to kill it.
Next, I suppose automobile manufacturers and/or car dealerships will be required to monitor every individual who goes above the speed limit in their cars. If anyone gets a speeding ticket, it's the carmaker's responsibility to install a speed dampener. If they fail to do so within a reasonable timeframe, they'll no longer be allowed to make or sell cars.

This isn't about copy writing or piracy at all. This is about control of the web. It's about traditional media mega corporations using the clout to pass laws that favor them retaining control of all content and the sharing of it. If people can not make content with any reference to anything pop culture - nearly impossible - than the only content that can be consumed is from them. And then, they can charge for that content and force people to watch it by limiting their choices.
facebook is standing up for us? Sorry, I don't have a FB , what exactly are they doing? I don't see anything on their main page
i thought FB had come out strongly against SOPA? Not sure what they're doing today -- I'm still resisting their reach...
They aren't doing anything. Neither is Twitter; in fact, Twitter has laughed at the protests. It's ironic, too, because Facebook and Twitter are almost exclusively user-generated content which is probably the most threatened type of website under SOPA/PIPA. Someone on Twitter link to copyrighted material? Well, that's grounds for being shut down without due process.
I don't know how Twitter makes money, but I suspect FB would lose huge amount of revenue if shut down even for a day, more so than most sites considering the amount of users. Also, I have never viewed FB as ever being socially concious. That's why I don't have an account. Google was, and still is to a lesser extent.
If the only bipartisan bills we pass are ****ing SOPA and PIPA then you know we've gone off the deep end. What's the White House's opinion on PIPA?
Wasn't the recent defense authorization that allows the president to detain an American citizen without due process indefinitely also passed with bi-partisan support?
i think their statement about SOPA went for PIPA as well. it was a response to both bills. if either of these pass without obama vetoing, i really don't see how he wins re-election. all his talk last campaign about transparency and he turns around and filters the internet?
lol He can get re-elected because: 1) The other party is just as bought and paid for on this issue as he is and 2) Too many Americans get bad media on this. When the bill is presented as "This bill is meant to stop people from illegally downloading music and videos. Do you object to that?" people don't get upset. Not enough people will actually get educated on it.
this whole thing is fishy to me because it's huge corporations against huge corporations. google must be losing out on money. i would even bet that if they were benefiting from sopa and/or pipa that they would support it.
