You are awfully sensitive about that, so much that you say this a lot, when people are poking fun - why? DD
you didn't know? insulting someone's faith proves that a person is a free thinker and intellectually superior.
Is it? How is it any more disrespectful than what goes on in other discussions around here? Is religion off limits to humor, or poking fun? Isn't that intolerence in and of itself? If it is meant as a joke or someone is poking fun, does it somehow shake someone's beliefs? Come on, I seriously doubt that. And asking for some modicum of respect on an interenet message board that is rampant with disrespect is a bit much? I mean, I would personally LOVE if if respect were given to everyone on here, but to me, it seems a tad unrealistic. DD
Nothing wrong with faith, but if you put it out there, don't be surprised if others don't share it, or care that you are putting it out there. DD
The dialogue on the previous page doesn't come across as jokingly or humorous. I missed the whimsical tone, and quite frankly, I don't think that it exist. You of all people should no that it isn't cool to constantly have a target on your back. So I personally, feel the need to support the notion that we as people have the right to believe whatever we want. And don't deserve to be persecuted, demeaned, and ridiculed because of that. There's enough respect to go around... Even on Clutchfans
I agree it was sarcastic in nature, at least that is how I read it, but isn't that persons belief just as important as the other posters? Shouldn't both be taken with the same respect. I agree wholeheartedly, we should be able to believe whatever we want, as for persecution or ridicule of those beliefs, this is an internet message board, and as much as we would like there to be complete respect, it is just not reasonable, maybe if we are worried about beliefs causing disrespect we should keep them to ourselves? I think there is some for sure, but there is not a consistent set of guidelines or rules to be followed. DD
Look at the end of the day, shouldn't we be able to laugh at ourselves and our beliefs? A whole lot less violence would be happening in the world if we could just do that. DD
Yes, cause bobrek is out there killing people because someone's making a jab at his faith on Clutchfans. There'd be a whole lot less violence in this world if people would just not be dicks to one another, especially when one indicates he feels like he was disrespected. A simple "sorry" and moving on would've saved a whole lot of posts.
Hangout: Want to have a discussion about your faith? No way! Want to make fun of someone else's? Go for it!
Therein lies the problem, why say sorry, when you are just poking fun at a belief system? I guess turn the other cheek no longer applies. DD
Now this is an interesting point, the hangout is meant to poke fun, but if I read what you are saying it is OK to poke fun at another poster, but if it involves religion or politics it should be in the D&D. That makes sense. DD
According to Clutch, "BBS Hangout Want to talk about music, places, people, a big ass Gordita or just any interest BBS users may have in common outside of the Rockets or specified forums -- this is the place. Politics, Religion, Race? Not here - Take that to the debate forum."
It doesn't 'make sense' because justtxyank states it that way, as you imply. It makes sense because those are Clutch's rules.
Well I DID put the rule in my post too. I just elaborated to point out that people use that rule when others start talking about God but as long as you are just making fun of other faiths everyone seems to be ok with. It's crazy.
